In addition to artist and musician Dang Huu Phuc as a judge, the competition has the participation of a panel of judges and advisory board of famous pianists and music teachers at home and abroad such as: pianist Nguyen Bich Tra, one of the leading pianists in Vietnam, the first Vietnamese to be awarded the ARAM title in 2013; pianist Luu Hong Quang, who was chosen and led by People's Artist Dang Thai Son, first prize winner of the Lev Vlassenko Piano Competition; Pianist Hazel Nguyen graduated with honors from the Royal Academy of Music, England...
Sharing about this competition, artist and musician Dang Huu Phuc said that most competitions for children about piano in particular or art in general will inevitably involve the psychology of winning, losing, or having quite high expectations from parents... Therefore, parents and children should not be too stressed and only focus on the musical expertise, so that we can have a piano competition that brings together talented pianists, learn together, overcome challenges together and develop together.
According to artist and musician Dang Huu Phuc, the 2023 Grand Opus International Piano Competition is a playground to help nurture young Vietnamese talents.
The Grand Opus Piano Competition will be held from June to August in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The specific schedule for each exam day and location will be updated by the organizing committee in July on the website: https://gopc.vn/gopc-2023/.
The contest not only becomes a playground for amateur and professional contestants to demonstrate their talents, but also a place for them to exchange, learn and compete with contestants around the world.
Candidates who register to participate also have the opportunity to experience the most premium piano brands such as Steingraeber, Mason & Hamlin, Bluthner... and access the standards of academic music.
Mr. Nguyen Hoang Phuong, representative of the competition's organizing committee, shared: "We do not aim to compete between pianists, but to inspire and fuel their passion for the art of piano, helping them develop their piano performance techniques in depth."
This year’s competition is divided into two groups: amateur (for candidates who are not studying music at professional music schools) and professional (for candidates who have, are, or will study music at professional music schools). Each group consists of four competition boards, divided by age, for candidates born from 2002 to 2014 onwards.
The best contestants will have the opportunity to receive prizes with a total value of up to 10,000 USD, 10 international summer camp scholarships and have the opportunity to perform solo on professional stages, as well as record an album in their own studio.
