WHEN LOVE IS EXTENDED
During the days of activities in response to Humanitarian Month, the atmosphere of sharing was present everywhere in many localities throughout Dong Thap province.
From trucks carrying gifts to disadvantaged areas, to houses being repaired for poor families, to livelihood support and gifts for poor families facing hardship and striving to overcome difficulties… all of these carry the community's affection for those in need.
At the gift-giving event for disadvantaged people in Dao Thanh ward, many people were present from early morning, their joy evident. Although the gifts were not of great material value, they carried profound spiritual significance, helping to alleviate some of the difficulties in people's lives.
Holding the gift in her hands, Mrs. Tran Ngoc An (residential area 22, Dao Thanh ward) shared: “My family is in difficult circumstances, and life is still a struggle. Each gift I receive not only helps ease the burden of expenses but also makes me feel cared for and supported. I am very grateful for the kind hearts that have helped poor people like us.”
Behind each gift is the collective effort of many organizations, individuals, and philanthropists.
Some people quietly contribute a few hundred thousand dong, others provide dozens of gift packages; some contribute their time, others their resources. All share a common desire to help those in difficult circumstances find the motivation to rise above their circumstances.
What is commendable is that the humanitarian movement is not limited to short-term campaigns but is becoming a regular activity. Stories of kindness and the spirit of "helping those in need" are appearing more and more frequently in everyday life.
There are acts of kindness that stem from very simple acts of empathy. Witnessing the plight of the needy, many people voluntarily participate in charitable activities with all their hearts. Numerous individuals have become "bridges" between philanthropists and those in difficult circumstances.
They mobilize donations, connect resources, and participate in social welfare programs. Some dedicate their weekends to cooking meals to distribute to the poor, others volunteer to donate blood, and some campaign to support students at risk of dropping out of school.
What is truly commendable is how a beautiful act of kindness can have such a powerful ripple effect. One person doing good inspires others to participate. From just a few individuals initially, the movement has gained more and more people willing to join hands.
In humanitarian activities, the image of union members, association members, and volunteers busily transporting gifts, assisting people, and visiting those in difficult circumstances has become familiar. Undeterred by sun or rain, they go to each place, listening and sharing.
Many people believe that the most valuable thing is not the monetary value of the gift, but the genuine care shown. Because in life, sometimes a timely word of encouragement is enough to give someone the confidence to overcome adversity.
SPREADING HUMANITARIAN VALUES
In reality, humanitarian activities not only provide immediate support but also contribute to fostering a spirit of solidarity within the community. Through each program, more and more compassionate hearts join hands to help.
According to the Dong Thap Provincial Red Cross Society, the total resources mobilized at the provincial and commune levels reached nearly 5 billion VND.
At the provincial level, fundraising includes cash, essential goods, rice, and various gifts to support people in difficult circumstances; at the commune level, fundraising is carried out to support sustainable livelihoods, build Red Cross houses and charity houses, distribute gifts, provide medical examinations and healthcare, and implement many other practical social welfare programs.
Ms. Dang Thi Thu Uyen, Executive Vice President of the Dong Thap Provincial Red Cross Society, shared: “The results achieved not only reflect the value of the mobilized resources but also demonstrate the sense of responsibility and the community's collective efforts in humanitarian work.”
"It is commendable that more and more organizations, businesses, and individuals are joining hands and contributing to multiplying beautiful acts of kindness in society. Every act of sharing, whether big or small, carries profound humanitarian significance and provides motivation for people to overcome difficulties and rise up in life."
According to Do Can Truc, Chairman of the Red Cross Association of Dao Thanh Ward: “What we hope for is not only to mobilize resources to support people in difficult circumstances but also to create a ripple effect in the community. When each person is willing to share a part of their responsibility to society, humanitarian values will be multiplied.”
"Every good deed, no matter how small, contributes to building a compassionate and benevolent community." According to him, it's encouraging that more and more organizations, businesses, and individuals are joining hands in humanitarian activities. This collective effort creates important resources for the effective implementation of social welfare programs.
In addition to providing material support, many programs also aim for long-term livelihoods for the people, such as: providing capital, supplying means of production, supporting medical examinations and treatment, and awarding scholarships to poor students. This is considered a sustainable approach to help people improve their lives.
In a small corner of the gift-giving event, Mr. Nguyen Van Canh (My Tho ward), who had just received assistance, smiled kindly. He shared: "Every time I receive help, I feel very warmhearted."
"What's valuable isn't just the gift itself, but knowing that there are still many people who care. I hope these acts of kindness will spread further so that more people in need can receive help."
Amidst the hustle and bustle of life, there are still many people quietly doing good deeds every day.
Some people give away free meals, others donate notebooks to poor students, and some dedicate their time to volunteer activities. These actions may seem small, but when combined, they create great power.
Perhaps the most beautiful aspect of humanitarian activities is their ability to spread. A beautiful act of kindness doesn't stop at the giver and receiver; it evokes empathy and inspires many others to act in the same way.
When hands learn to grasp each other, the distance between people is narrowed. And as the spirit of compassion continues to be nurtured, the seeds of love will sprout and grow day by day.
The money raised is not simply a number. It represents thousands of acts of sharing, outstretched hands of love, and vivid evidence of the power of the spirit of "mutual support" that is still quietly spreading throughout the community.
Throughout this journey, acts of kindness continue to be quietly written. Every gift given, every need shared, every heart connected—these are vivid proof of the power of human compassion.
