On the morning of November 27, the Ministry of Education and Training coordinated with the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education to organize a discussion on strengthening coordination between families, schools and society in educating children, pupils and students in the new period.

Not only propaganda coordination but also strategic alliance

According to People's Teacher Nguyen Thi Hien - Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Doan Thi Diem Primary School - Hanoi , in the current context, the relationship between family - school - society does not stop at the level of coordination and propaganda but needs to become a strategic link, co-creation, together towards a modern, humane and sustainable school management model.

Doan Thi Diem Primary School - Hanoi, with nearly three decades of construction and development, is always deeply aware that: "A good school not only has good teachers and good students, but also has supportive parents and the trust of society".

From that awareness, the school has proactively implemented a model of connecting three educational environments associated with the national digital transformation orientation, creating a comprehensive educational ecosystem, contributing to the formation of a generation of dynamic, creative and compassionate students. The key content is to innovate the coordination model of three environments in the direction of "co-creation"; build a cohesive school culture - the foundation of coordination; apply technology and digitalize to connect three educational environments.

The school's achievements demonstrate that: When three educational environments are connected by trust, transparency and technology, education will become a happy, sustainable and humane journey.

To effectively implement the coordination work, People's Teacher Nguyen Thi Hien recommended that the Ministry of Education and Training and the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education develop a policy framework to encourage public-private education linkage models in the digital age; organize training programs to foster coordination skills between family - school - society for teachers and management staff.

For schools, People's Teacher Nguyen Thi Hien believes that it is necessary to consider the connection of three environments as a criterion for evaluating the quality of education. Innovating management thinking from incident response (only solving problems when they arise) to strategic management using data and technology, where all decisions are built on the basis of accurate information, student learning data and modern digital tools, helping schools proactively plan, improve educational effectiveness and comprehensively develop students.

For parents and society, it is necessary to build a culture that goes hand in hand with education; take children's joy and growth as a measure of success; actively participate in community activities, green projects and digital skills education.

At the seminar, a representative of the Department of Culture and Society of Vinh Lai commune (Hai Phong) shared the local experience in promoting the role of families and local political and social forces and organizations in taking care of and educating children and students.

Accordingly, the Department of Culture and Society has directed schools to effectively organize propaganda work so that parents are clearly aware of the important role and responsibility of the family in caring for and educating students; and to strengthen coordination between families and schools through the model "Parents happily learning with their children".

At the same time, coordinate with the commune police force in propagating and educating students about traffic safety, using social networks safely and intelligently, ensuring school security; coordinate with the Health Center in taking care of students' health, providing counseling on gender development and reproductive health care; coordinate with the Youth Union in organizing extracurricular activities.

In order to effectively educate students, the representative of the Department of Culture and Society of Vinh Lai commune said that the education sector really needs the consensus and close coordination from families, political and social organizations in the locality according to the current new commune-level government. Each force has a particularly important role; when coordinated smoothly and unified, it will create a comprehensive, safe and humane educational environment, contributing to building a young generation with intelligence, personality and aspiration to contribute to the future of the country.

Redefining the family-school relationship

Prof. Dr. Le Anh Vinh - Director of the Vietnam Institute of Educational Sciences said: Vietnam is facing an opportunity to completely redefine the family-school relationship, shifting from a traditional structure based on hierarchy, obedience and authority to a new partnership model: respect, cooperation and co-creation. This is not only a change in behavior, but also a transformation in the thinking of the entire education system.

To realize that, Vietnamese education cannot rely solely on calls for “increasing parental involvement” as a general slogan.

What the country needs are the foundational conditions, both in policy and practice, for such engagement to become a positive force. This includes new assessment indicators that reflect the quality of relationships rather than the quantity of activities; mechanisms that create space for parents’ voices; and, most importantly, the inclusion of the ability to work with families as a core requirement in teacher training.

When teachers are equipped with the right knowledge, skills, and attitudes to work with diverse families, they not only expand the school's reach, but also contribute to building an educational culture that listens, shares, and works together to benefit students.

Therefore, Professor Le Anh Vinh believes that building a family-school relationship in Vietnamese education is not only an administrative task, but a broader cultural-social project: the project of building a fair, humane and liberal education.

Concluding the conference, Permanent Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong re-emphasized the remarkable contents from the speeches of teachers, education managers and experts. Among them, many opinions said that although most clearly recognized the important role of coordination between family, school and society in educating students; however, there is still a gap from awareness to specific action.

Part of the reason for the above situation comes from the great challenges of education: The scale of students is very large, spread across regions with different economic and social conditions; the impact of market economy, migration, urbanization... Faced with new requirements, contexts, and situations, new awareness and new solutions are required for this work.

Affirming the close and intimate relationship between family, school and society, the Deputy Minister highly agreed with the proposal to continue perfecting the institutions and legal regulations on this content; in order to properly implement the requirements in Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW: "Clearly defining the roles, responsibilities and coordination mechanisms between family, school and society in educating ethics, personality and the standard value system of Vietnamese people".

At the same time, continue to deeply understand the important role of coordination between family, school and society; how to be of one mind, accompany and co-create to have a generation of students become global citizens, comprehensively developed in terms of Morality - Intelligence - Body - Aesthetics. The Deputy Minister also emphasized the development of a training program for teachers and related subjects in implementing this content.
