On the evening of June 10, Japan "destroyed" Indonesia 6-0 in the final match of the third qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Asia.
This match no longer has any meaning to the outcome of the two teams, as Japan has already secured first place in the group and a ticket to the 2026 World Cup. Meanwhile, the Indonesian team has also entered the play-off round to continue to nurture their dream of attending the World Cup.
However, both teams played extremely fiercely right from the opening whistle. Despite fielding a team lacking many stars, Japan easily dominated the match and had an overwhelming advantage.
The home team quickly opened the scoring thanks to Daichi Kamada in the 15th minute. The Japanese team had a beautiful combination, Mito had an uncomfortable cross, creating an opportunity for Kamada to rush in and head the ball in strongly.
The "land of the rising sun" team continued to dominate the match after the opening goal and immediately scored the second goal. Kubo was the one who scored after a well-coordinated corner kick in the 19th minute.
Leading by 2 goals, the Japanese team played a bit slower, but they still scored a third goal to bring the score to 3-0. Daichi Kamada completed his double in the first half's injury time.

The second half did not see much change, as the home team continued to dominate and scored many more goals with ease. Morishita scored to raise the score to 4-0 in the 55th minute.
Just 3 minutes later, Kubo made a delicate pass to help Machino escape and easily score the 5th goal.
It seemed like everything had stopped, coach Hajime Moriyasu's team did not continuously press, but the Indonesian team appeared too weak against each attack from Japan.
Hosoya completed the victory with a tennis-level result for Japan - 6-0. This victory helped Japan finish the 2026 World Cup qualifiers as Group C winners. Meanwhile, Indonesia will move on to the play-off round as fourth place.
According to the 2026 World Cup qualifying format in Asia , the 6 teams ranked 3rd and 4th from 3 groups in the 3rd qualifying round will be divided into 2 play-off groups (3 teams each).
The teams will compete in a double round robin (home and away) to select the top two teams in the group to directly qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
The two runners-up of the two play-off groups will continue to face each other in a play-off (home - away) to find the sole representative of Asia to participate in the intercontinental play-off, where the winning team will get a ticket to the 2026 World Cup.
