According to Be, the platform has officially updated its fees for some services after five consecutive years of maintaining stable rates.
Under the new fare structure, the minimum fare for the first 2km of motorbike service is 13,817 VND. For each subsequent 12km, the fare increases by 4,600 - 5,400 VND/km.
For taxi services, the fare for the first 2km ranges from 31,500 to 38,400 VND, applicable to 4-seater, 7-seater, and Plus service vehicles. For each subsequent 12km, the fare increases by 11,000 to 14,000 VND per kilometer.
Be stated that the fare adjustment is taking place amid rising operating costs, particularly fuel costs.
Prior to April 28th, Grab also adjusted some fees across various services. For motorbike services, the platform fee is set at 3,000 VND per trip. For four-wheeled vehicle services, excluding taxis, the platform fee ranges from 5,000 to 19,000 VND, depending on the pickup area and distance traveled.
Grab stated that the fee adjustment aims to increase resources for driver support programs nationwide.
According to a ride-hailing company, the increase in fees by these apps is happening more slowly than with many traditional transportation companies and delivery services. This is because the platforms have to carefully consider the balance between compensating drivers for increased costs and user reaction.
During periods of rising fuel prices, many ride-hailing apps are not rushing to increase fares immediately, but instead use internal budgets as a "buffer" to support drivers, maintain operational stability, and limit immediate impacts on customers.
However, with fuel and operating costs remaining high, fare increases are unavoidable. For users, the cost per ride may increase, especially during peak hours, on rainy days, or in areas with high demand for rides.
