Many people won the lottery, Vietlott spent 2,500 billion VND to pay out prizes after half a year

(Dan Tri) - Vietlott continues to rank second in the list of lottery companies with the highest revenue in the South, just behind Ho Chi Minh City Lottery.

Vietnam Computerized Lottery Company (Vietlott) recently announced its business results for the first 6 months of 2025 with revenue reaching 3,600 billion VND, up 10% over the same period last year. After deducting expenses, the company reported a profit after tax of 196 billion VND, up 16%.

With revenue of 3,600 billion VND, Vietlott continues to rank second as the lottery company with the highest revenue in the South, just behind Ho Chi Minh City Lottery Company Limited (over 11,100 billion VND).

Notably, in the first half of the year, Vietlott spent nearly VND2,500 billion on prizes, an increase of about VND250 billion compared to the same period last year. In addition, commissions paid to agents also amounted to VND425 billion.

Recently, the company has continuously announced lottery winners. For example, on July 12, a person won Jackpot 1 worth nearly 345 billion VND - a record high.

Regarding business, according to the plan assigned by the Ministry of Finance , Vietlott must achieve VND8,750 billion in revenue and VND305 billion in pre-tax profit this year. After 6 months, the company has achieved 41% of its revenue target and more than 80% of its profit target.

Revenues of other lottery companies have also grown steadily. There are currently 63 lottery companies nationwide. Revenues from lottery activities are mainly concentrated in the southern market.

According to data from the Southern Lottery Council, in 2024, revenue from traditional lottery reached 140,587 billion VND, which is also the third consecutive year that the total revenue of the region has exceeded 100,000 billion VND, an unprecedented record in the history of the lottery industry.

Last year, the leading revenue was Ho Chi Minh City Lottery Company Limited with more than 11,100 billion VND. Enterprises in other southern provinces also earned an average of 6,000 billion VND.

In the first half of this year, Ho Chi Minh City Lottery Company Limited earned more than 7,000 billion VND. Other large-scale units such as Binh Duong Lottery Company Limited earned nearly 3,200 billion VND, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province earned more than 3,000 billion VND...

Revenue of some major lottery companies in the South

After localities reorganized provincial administrative units from 63 provinces and cities to 34 provinces and cities, the Ministry of Finance said that localities subject to merger will hand over lottery companies to the (new) localities after the merger.

In particular, it is expected that the Lottery Company of Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau provinces will merge with Ho Chi Minh City, bringing the scale of the new enterprise to 21,500 billion VND in revenue, equivalent to 1 billion USD.
