In the Asian In-competition Films and Panorama of Asian Cinema categories - the newly launched program of this year's Film Festival, many international films chose DANAFF as the place for their " World premiere" and International Premiere.

Attracting many premieres is one of the criteria that make up the brand of a film festival. This is considered a good sign for DANAFF, because filmmakers in the region have known about the Film Festival and trust their "newborn children" to DANAFF III.

In the Asian Film category, we must mention “Family Secrets” - a film starring Kim Hye Eun, the star of films such as “Itaewon Class” and “Twenty five twenty one”. “Family Secrets” is a touching family story, revolving around a family’s journey of healing after the loss of a loved one. Lee Sang Hoon - the film’s director is also highly appreciated for works such as “Windmill” (2023) or “New Old Story” (2018).

Another film premiering in this series is “How to forget you” by Japanese director Yu Sakudo, whose work won an award at the Venice Film Festival. Yu Sakudo’s style leans towards the romantic genre, bringing about deep emotions.

Mongolian cinema’s “The Father” is also an interesting film at this year’s festival. The main character of the film is a resilient Mongolian father - who fought the scythe of death to welcome his first son - embarking on a 30-year journey full of hope and determination.

Another Southeast Asian representative is the film “Out of Order” from the Philippines. A thrilling and suspenseful film, it tells the story of a clumsy young lawyer forced to defend his estranged father when he is accused of a brutal murder.

In the Asian Cinema Panorama program, there are two notable Korean works that will have their international premiere at DANAFF: “My friend is a murderer” and “Extreme family”. These two films feature stars such as Lee Il Hwa (Reply 1988) and Ji Seung Hyun (“Descendants of the Sun”), which will certainly bring the audience exciting moments. Notably, Ji Seung Hyun will also be present at the screening of “My friend is a murderer” to interact with the DANAFF audience.

The works “Lotus Kitchen”, “Mommy”, “Souzoku” and “Niihama Hikari Story: The Blue Lion” from Japan are fresh slices of life, be it family stories, social issues, or modern culinary culture... The important thing is that viewers will see stories that are either familiar or strange, sensational told in different ways, not boring.

“Love in Vietnam” (India) is a co-production film project between India and Vietnam, not only depicting a romantic love story but also honoring the beauty of Vietnam’s landscape, people and culture, aiming to introduce the image of the beautiful country to international audiences.

The film received active support from both the Indian Consulate in Vietnam and the Vietnamese Consulate in India during the development and production process. In addition, it is impossible not to mention that the film's production process was supported by Vietnamese provinces and cities in terms of filming locations, infrastructure, administrative procedures, and human resource connections in the film industry.

This is the result of the construction of the Production Attraction Index (PAI) by the Vietnam Film Promotion and Development Association (VFDA) from 2023.

"Love in Vietnam" was introduced as a project at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival and the film will officially have its world premiere "Love at First Sight" (Love in Vietnam): for the first time at DANAFF III.

Taking on the role of director is Rahhat Shah Kazmi - a familiar face in Indian cinema (famous for the film Country of Blind, in the Asian film category at DANAFF II). Accompanying Rahhat Shah Kazmi is the famous producer Captain Rahul Bali.

From the perspective of an international production team, “Love in Vietnam” recreates many regions of Vietnam through a modern, youthful and emotional cinematic lens. The film also features famous movie stars from Vietnam and India such as: actress Kha Ngan, Avneet Kaur, Shantanu Maheshwari.

The above films, along with nearly 100 films from other attractive screening programs, will be screened for free within the framework of DANAFF III at Le Do, CGV, Galaxy, Lotte Da Nang cinemas from June 29 in Da Nang City. Tickets will be distributed free of charge at Le Do cinema from June 24. Moviegoers will have the opportunity to meet, chat and interact with famous actors and directors.
