Previously, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Tran Phu walking street had reduced its operating hours from 5 to 2 weekends and had been operating intermittently according to the developments of the COVID-19 pandemic.

From April 2023, the walking street will be back in operation, due to the increasing number of tourists coming to Mong Cai and to meet the needs of businesses, the People's Committee of Tran Phu Ward has opened the walking street from Wednesday to Sunday.
Mr. Bui Trung Dung - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tran Phu Ward, Mong Cai City - said: In order to maintain and innovate the walking street 5 days/week, the People's Committee of the Ward coordinates with clubs, dance groups, organizes cultural and artistic activities, including folk games to create highlights. Regarding sales, the People's Committee of the Ward has agreed with 66 business households on the layout, uniforms, 100% of business households have QR codes to accept cashless purchases.
The occupancy rate of accommodation facilities has also increased. According to statistics from the Mong Cai Department of Culture and Tourism, the city currently has more than 200 accommodation facilities, including 40 hotels with 1 to 5 star standards and accommodation facilities meeting the standards of motels, houses with rooms for tourists to rent and homestays with nearly 8,000 beds. From the beginning of June until now, on weekends, hotels in Mong Cai city have reached 100% occupancy rate, the number of guests booking rooms has reached August 2023.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha - Executive Director of Bien Bac Hotel - said: The peak tourist season in Mong Cai takes place from May to August 15, the Hanoi - Hai Phong - Ha Long - Mong Cai expressway has opened, making it easier for tourists to travel to Mong Cai. These are very good signs because tours have resumed, but in reality, tourists are also spending more economically.
According to many other tourism agencies, due to the difficult economic situation, tourists also tend to spend more economically.
Ms. Pham Thi Oanh - Head of the Department of Culture and Information, Mong Cai City - said: In order for tourism activities to grow sustainably, the city is carrying out many activities to diversify tourism products, maintain the operation of the tourism hotline, promptly inspect and correct violations, strengthen human resource training, digital transformation of tourism, festivals, and events organized on an expanded scale domestically and internationally.
Along with that, Mong Cai city also determined to closely cooperate with Dongxing city (China) in managing and developing border tourism activities and enhancing cultural, sports and tourism exchange activities with friends... creating a safe, friendly and attractive tourism business environment, contributing to attracting tourists to Mong Cai not only on weekends but also on weekdays.
