Many departments and branches of Ho Chi Minh City agree with the proposal to build a road across the sea in Can Gio.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Finance has just reported to the City People's Committee about the proposal to study and invest in the project of a sea route connecting Can Gio with Ba Ria - Vung Tau (old) submitted by Vingroup Corporation.

After receiving the initial proposal from Vingroup Corporation, the Department of Finance worked with the investor and relevant departments, branches and localities to get opinions.

Through synthesizing opinions, most departments and branches support the Project research.

In which, the Department of Planning and Architecture of Ho Chi Minh City unanimously supported the research of the Project and proposed to add the Project to the general planning project of the new Ho Chi Minh City and other related planning projects.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City assessed the project investment proposal as necessary to enhance road traffic connectivity between Can Gio and Ba Ria - Vung Tau areas.

With the support of departments and branches, the Department of Finance proposed that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee consider allowing Vingroup to research and invest in the sea route project connecting Can Gio with Ba Ria - Vung Tau with some accompanying conditions.

The specific conditions given include: the enterprise will use its own capital and bear all costs and risks during the Project research process. The project research period is 12 months.

The approval document of the City People's Committee only allows project research and does not mean assigning the task of preparing investment, preparing pre-feasibility or feasibility reports, nor does it bind the conditions of appointing Vingroup as the investor to implement the project later.

The implementation of investment procedures related to the project will be carried out in accordance with current legal regulations.

When conducting research, investors need to acknowledge and fully absorb professional comments from relevant departments and branches, to ensure that research products are fully considered and evaluated, meet requirements and conditions, and achieve efficiency and quality.

Research results of Vingroup Corporation can be transferred to the City as documents and data in the research process and implementation of subsequent procedures related to the project (if any).

Previously, Vingroup Corporation sent a document to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee proposing to allow businesses to research and invest in a sea route connecting Can Gio with Vung Tau.

Vingroup believes that investing in the sea route will significantly shorten travel time between the two areas, creating a new traffic corridor connecting functional areas in the City.

At the same time, it creates momentum for socio- economic development, trade, tourism and expansion of urban space.

In March this year, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction and the consulting unit that prepared the Ho Chi Minh City Master Plan Adjustment Project studied the Southern Coastal Road Project through Ho Chi Minh City, including studying the investment plan for the Can Gio sea route connecting to Vung Tau.

According to research, the construction of the Can Gio sea crossing road will shorten the distance by about 40 km compared to the detour. However, investing in a sea crossing bridge longer than 10 km is an obstacle because the project requires a huge amount of investment capital.
