Many trains on the North-South route cannot run due to severe railway damage after floods.

On December 1, the Railway Transport Joint Stock Company said that many trains on the North-South route continued to stop running due to repairs to severely damaged areas after storms in the South Central region.

The heavily damaged areas are being repaired.

Specifically, the railway industry will temporarily suspend the operation of trains SE6/SE5 departing from Saigon and Hanoi stations from December 2 to December 10; and temporarily suspend the operation of trains SE22/SE21 departing from Saigon and Da Nang stations on December 2, 3, 4, 8, 9 and 10.

Passengers with tickets for affected trains can return their tickets online on the railway's e-ticket website or return their tickets directly at the station, free of charge.

The Railway Transport Joint Stock Company also said that the historic floods in the South Central region have damaged the railway infrastructure stretching from Dieu Tri to Nha Trang. Although the line has been reopened after 8 days of paralysis, many severely damaged points need further repairs, and many points are running slowly, leading to limited train capacity.

From November 17 to December 1, 105 passenger trains and 65 freight trains had to stop running, causing an estimated loss of nearly VND50 billion. The number of train tickets returned to passengers was about 39,000, equivalent to VND24 billion.
