On the morning of November 13, Saigon University and Ho Chi Minh City University of Education announced that they would not accept flowers to celebrate Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20.

The two universities requested delegates, units and businesses to convert the cost of giving flowers into funds to support people in areas affected by storms and floods, and to build community works.

Mr. Pham Hoang Quan - Principal of Saigon University - wrote that Vietnamese Teachers' Day November 20 is an occasion for the whole society to honor and show gratitude for the dedication of teachers and those working in the education sector, demonstrating the fine tradition of "respecting teachers" of the Vietnamese people.

However, in recent times, people in the Northern and Central provinces have suffered heavy losses and damages caused by natural disasters and storms and floods. People's lives have encountered many difficulties and need the joint help of the whole community.

In the spirit of mutual love and support, "the rich help the poor", to share the burden and support people in storm and flood affected areas to soon stabilize their lives, Saigon University would like to refuse to accept congratulatory flowers.

Instead, the school hopes that delegates, units, and businesses will convert the cost of giving flowers into funds to support people in areas affected by storms and floods, helping people to be somewhat encouraged, comforted, and quickly return to life, work, and participate in production.

"Your sharing is a noble and practical gesture; at the same time, it is also the most meaningful and complete congratulatory gift for the school on this anniversary" - Saigon University emphasized.

Similarly, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education also "requests not to accept flowers on the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20". Instead, the school respectfully calls on philanthropists, businesses, organizations, and individuals to convert the budget intended for flowers and congratulatory gifts into cash contributions for practical projects and works serving the community.

The school plans to carry out the "Red Scarf House" project: supporting the construction of living and learning spaces for students in difficult circumstances at primary schools in suburban and rural areas.

Project "Mobile swimming pool for primary school students": creates conditions for physical training and drowning prevention skills for children, contributing to comprehensive education.

In addition, Nha Trang University and Trung Vuong University also announced "Replace flowers with love". The school does not accept flowers on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the school's founding and Vietnamese Teachers' Day November 20.

Instead of fresh flowers, the delegates' hearts will be transformed into meaningful gifts sent to people in disaster and flood areas.
