The provincial museum currently displays 70 documents and artifacts related to stories or memories of President Ho Chi Minh with the people of Lang Son province. Notable items include the outfit (shirt, hat, rubber sandals) that President Ho Chi Minh wore when he visited Lang Son province in February 1960; the tea set used by the Provincial Administrative Committee to welcome President Ho Chi Minh during his visit to Lang Son province in February 1960; and the lacquerware set that President Ho Chi Minh gifted to the people of Do Luong commune, Huu Lung district (now Van Nham commune) in 1969...
Through valuable artifacts, images, and documents, viewers have the opportunity to access history in a more visual and engaging way.
Nguyen Duy An, from Khon Khuyen Hamlet, Dong Kinh Ward, shared: "Having the opportunity to directly learn about artifacts related to President Ho Chi Minh has made my understanding of history more vivid. Through visits like this, I understand even more the immense contributions of President Ho Chi Minh and the heroic martyrs, and the value of peace today. This reminds me to strive to study and train well to become a useful member of society."
Not only students, but also many Youth Union members, young people, officials, and Party members who visited saw this as an opportunity to review revolutionary traditions and cultivate their ideals. Among the visitors to the exhibition space were veterans attentively looking at each documentary photograph, telling their children and grandchildren about the difficult years of war; and young children seeing for the first time the items associated with President Ho Chi Minh's life. These stories made history no longer dry and rigid, but more intimate and authentic.
Mr. Nong Duc Kien, Director of the Provincial Museum, said: "We deeply understand that artifacts, documents, and materials related to President Ho Chi Minh are invaluable historical treasures. Therefore, at the exhibition hall, we have set aside a separate space with the theme 'President Ho Chi Minh with the People of the Ethnic Groups of Lang Son Province' to display artifacts about him. Every year, we direct the specialized department to regularly inventory and preserve artifacts according to the correct procedures, while also collecting and supplementing valuable documents and images to enrich the exhibition content. In addition, we also promote propaganda and education on traditions through visits, experiences, and thematic exhibitions about the life and revolutionary career of President Ho Chi Minh. Through this, we contribute to arousing patriotism, national pride, and a sense of responsibility among the younger generation in preserving and promoting the historical and cultural values of our homeland."
Besides the Provincial Museum, the Ho Chi Minh Memorial House in That Khe commune also preserves historical artifacts and documents about President Ho Chi Minh. This is where President Ho Chi Minh visited and spoke with the people of various ethnic groups in Trang Dinh district on February 21, 1961. The memorial house has special significance in educating cadres, Party members, and the people of the border region about revolutionary traditions. The memorial house was classified as a National Historical Monument by the Ministry of Culture and Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) in 1994. The memorial house currently houses 129 documentary photos, artifacts, and scientific documents related to President Ho Chi Minh's visits and work in Lang Son in general and Trang Dinh in particular; the glorious achievements of the people and armed forces of Trang Dinh district in the resistance war to protect the Fatherland; and the people of various ethnic groups in Trang Dinh district following President Ho Chi Minh's teachings.
Over the years, the Party Committee and the local government of That Khe commune have consistently invested in, restored, preserved, and promoted the value of the Ho Chi Minh Memorial House. Visitors, students, and youth union members frequently come to offer incense, visit, and learn about its history.
Amidst the hustle and bustle of modern life, historical artifacts related to President Ho Chi Minh silently recount the story of a great man who was also incredibly simple and approachable. Each photograph and memento not only helps today's generation better understand the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh but also reminds each person of their responsibility to preserve traditions and continue the revolutionary ideals of their ancestors.
