After more than an hour of trading, the electronic board was still dominated by red, making investors somewhat cautious and causing liquidity to remain at only an average level.

The banking sector showed divergence, with EIB (+2%), BID (+0.62%), CTG (+0.28%), MBB (+0.57%), VCB (-0.33%),SHB (-0.65%), HDB (-0.19%). Notably, STB shares unexpectedly surged to the ceiling price of +6.85%, with nearly 8 million units traded and over 2 million units remaining in buy orders at the ceiling price from quite early on.

In the real estate sector, gains were strong with NVL (+4.96%), VPI (+0.82%), DXG (+0.33%), and DIG (+0.7%).

The financial services sector was dominated by red as VIX (-0.29%), SHS (-2.21%), HCM (-1.97%), SSI (-0.85%), and VCK (-0.58%) all fell. Similarly, the oil and gas sector saw BSR (-0.38%), PVS (-0.78%), PVD (-0.91%), PLX, and PVC decline to their reference prices.

Commenting on today's market outlook, experts from Kien Thiet Vietnam Securities Company believe that on April 20th, the VN-Index quickly regained its positive momentum, closing at the highest level of the session. However, the increase continued to be dominated by a few large-cap stocks, primarily concentrated in the Vingroup group of stocks, without spreading to many other sectors.

In addition, liquidity has narrowed, with the lowest trading volume in the last 8 sessions and a 27.3% decrease compared to the 20-session average. While the recovery trend is strengthened, the strong upward momentum and widespread gains have not been confirmed due to low liquidity. Therefore, we continue to maintain our current positions, limiting further purchases and patiently waiting for more synchronized breakout signals across multiple sectors to find a safe entry point.

According to experts at Vietcombank Securities Company, the recent upward trend of the VN-Index is being driven by a few large-cap stocks, and the capital flow has not yet spread significantly to other stocks in the market. Consequently, the market is showing a divergent trend, with many stocks still showing no signs of reversing and recovering along with the overall index.

It is expected that capital will shift to more sectors in the coming sessions, and investors are advised to continue closely monitoring market developments to take advantage of opportunities arising from the movement of capital.

At the same time, it is possible to select stocks that hold their support levels for partial disbursement, focusing on currently noteworthy sectors such as banking, public investment, and retail.
