Take the initiative to schedule appointments.

Observations at many beauty salons in the city, especially in the evenings and on weekends, show a bustling atmosphere. Hair salons are constantly busy with customers coming and going, most of whom have booked appointments in advance. These establishments proactively extend their operating hours and employ additional staff to meet the increased demand for beauty services during the Lunar New Year holiday.

Mr. Pham Loc, owner of the Loc hair salon chain, said that the demand for beauty services increases significantly in the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year). “This year, due to the general economic difficulties, the number of customers is somewhat lower than in previous years. However, the salon still maintains a stable customer base in the last two months of the year. We prepare our staff 4-5 months in advance, focusing on professional training and flexible coordination between our three locations to serve customers and ensure quality,” Mr. Loc shared.

Taking advantage of her lunch break, Ms. Le Thi Kim Oanh (Thanh Khe ward) went to the salon to get her hair done. “With Tet approaching, there’s a lot of work and many customers. If you don’t book an appointment in advance, it’s very difficult to find time. Getting it done early is both more comfortable and avoids long waits,” Ms. Oanh said.

According to Mr. Loc, customers now tend to book appointments early. This allows the salon to proactively manage staff and distribute customers appropriately across locations during peak days, thereby reducing congestion and ensuring service quality.

Ms. Pham Minh An, the owner of a nail salon on Phan Dang Luu Street, said that the number of customers has increased by about 30-40% compared to normal days, and the schedule for the last four days of the year has been fully booked for more than a week in advance.

"On many peak days, the shop is fully booked from morning to night, so we prioritize accepting advance bookings to ensure quality service," said Ms. An.

Customers are also more proactive in scheduling their beauty treatments. Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Quynh Thy (Cam Le ward) said she booked her skincare and nail appointments nearly a month before Tet.

"In previous years, we used to wait until close to Tet (Lunar New Year) to get beauty treatments, so it was very crowded and we had to wait a long time. This year, booking early allowed us to manage our time more effectively, and we felt more relaxed afterward," said Ms. Thy.

Welcome the New Year with confidence!

Besides getting their hair and nails done, many people also choose skincare and beauty services to refresh their appearance before the new year.

While waiting for her skincare treatment, Ms. Ha Uyen Phuong (43 years old, Hai Chau ward) said that the end of the year is a time for her to take time for herself after a busy year.

"Getting pampered helps me relax and feel more confident when meeting relatives and friends during Tet," Ms. Phuong shared.

According to MSc. Dr. Pham Ngoc Quang, Director of FAMILY BieL Aesthetic Center at Family Hospital, the demand for beauty treatments increases significantly in the weeks leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year) compared to other times of the year. However, customers tend to prioritize minimally invasive aesthetic procedures that provide quick results and do not require a long recovery period.

"Medical aesthetic services are increasingly chosen because they fit the tight deadlines at the end of the year, helping to improve appearance while still ensuring daily life, work, and holiday activities."

Conversely, the surgical cosmetic services sector tends to see a slight decline during this period because they often require longer recovery times, are prone to swelling and bruising, and affect mobility and holiday activities," Dr. Quang said.

Dr. Pham Ngoc Quang advises that, for safe and long-lasting beauty treatments, people should choose reputable establishments with operating licenses, a team of professional doctors, and products of clear origin.

"We shouldn't chase trends or undergo too many services in a short period of time. Sustainable beauty care needs to be built on a foundation of safety, science , and suitability to each individual's physical condition, rather than focusing only on immediate results during Tet," Dr. Quang emphasized.
