While the members of the delegation—officers, students from military schools, and some agencies of the Ministry of National Defense— were still fast asleep, at over 3 a.m., Lieutenant Pham Doan Nam and the logistics support team were already preparing cooking ingredients. As one of the 20 members of the support team, he is always busy from early morning until late at night. Lieutenant Nam shared that he is a mechanic on Ship 515 (Squadron 413, Brigade 955). However, whenever his unit deploys him to provide logistics support for delegations going to Truong Sa and the DK1 platform, he is always ready and happy to go. This is the third trip that Lieutenant Pham Doan Nam has participated in serving in 2026.

Despite the busy and arduous work, everyone works with the utmost enthusiasm and responsibility. Captain Nguyen Van Khoi, Assistant Quartermaster (Logistics-Technical Department, Brigade 955), Head of the Logistics Support Team, said: “Based on the number of personnel in the group and the departure time, we prepare a unified menu to purchase food. The service force consists of many comrades from different specialties and units within the Brigade... but all of them have cooking experience, good health, and the ability to withstand rough weather. Only then can the team successfully complete the mission in all weather conditions.”
Sergeant Tran Truong Minh (engineer of Squadron 413, Brigade 955), a member of the logistics support team, shared that he has been on four long voyages, one of which lasted nearly 90 days. Initially, he faced many difficulties, especially seasickness due to rough seas. Thanks to the encouragement and support of his comrades, he gradually adapted to the rough seas. From the beginning of 2026 until now, he has served two missions.
Working alongside him in the Logistics Support Team is Sergeant Nguyen Minh Vuong, a deckman on Ship 571. Before enlisting, Vuong graduated from Nguyen Tat Thanh University with a major in electrical engineering. During his time serving on the ship, Vuong has become proficient in preparing dishes from the menu, with delicious meals leaving a deep impression on the delegates, such as: braised beef, sour fish soup, water spinach soup with clams, stir-fried pork with chayote, carp stewed with pickled vegetables...
Commenting on the quality of meals on board, Lieutenant Colonel Bui Thi Thu Huong, Assistant to the Examination and Training Quality Assurance Department (Military Training Department - School, General Staff), a member of Task Force No. 4, expressed: “Despite the many difficulties at sea, the cooks still work very professionally and with a high sense of responsibility. The menu is very rich and diverse, and the soldiers' cooking skills are excellent. All members of the task force are satisfied and moved by the dedication and thoughtfulness of the service team.”
Amidst the vast ocean waves, the hearty meals, filled with camaraderie, not only ensured the health of the crew members but also left a lasting positive impression. The dedication and silent commitment of the cooks on Ship 571 contributed to the success of each voyage, carrying love and support from the mainland to Truong Sa and the DK1 platform.
