On the morning of December 7, Vietnamese badminton officially started at the 33rd SEA Games in the women's team event. In this event, Nguyen Thuy Linh and her teammates faced off against a very strong opponent, Malaysia. The competition format consisted of 5 matches: 3 singles and 2 doubles. Besides their expertise, the image of the Vietnamese girls, both brave and graceful on the court, also created a remarkable highlight on the opening day.

Nguyen Thuy Linh played the opening match for the Vietnamese team and had a spectacular comeback against Malaysia's number 1 player, thereby bringing the first victory for Vietnamese badminton on the opening day of the 33rd SEA Games.

In the final women's singles match, Bui Bich Phuong faced Zulaikha Siti. In the first set, she had an advantage at times but her inaccurate plays at the end of the set led to a 19-21 loss. In the second set, Bich Phuong continued to lose by a narrow margin of 19-21 and lost 0-2 overall.

Nguyen Thuy Linh opened with a hopeful victory, but the Vietnamese women's badminton team still could not create a surprise against the strong Malaysia. However, this result was within the experts' predictions when the gap in level between the two teams was still there. Fans can still wait for Thuy Linh to shine in the women's singles in the following days of competition.
