On the morning of February 27, many localities in Ho Chi Minh City simultaneously held ceremonies to hand over and receive soldiers to perform military service in 2024. More than 4,900 citizens joined the army this year.
At the military enlistment point in District 10, the new recruits arrived very early to stabilize their formation and prepare for the "military enlistment" ceremony. The military enlistment point in District 10 had 949 young men joining the army.
In 2024, Ho Chi Minh City was assigned a target of 4,906 young people joining the army, of which 3,956 young people will join the military service and 950 citizens will join the people's police service.
The young men's luggage consisted of backpacks and simple items such as clothes, identification papers and a few personal items.
New recruit Pham Ngoc Tan (22 years old, District 6) voluntarily joined the army after completing his college program in Refrigeration Technology.
"I feel that I am still young and need to practice more in both life skills and health, so I decided to register for military service. This is also the pride and should be done by every young Vietnamese citizen. I am very happy to be able to join the army and serve the Fatherland," Ngoc Tan said.
This year, Ho Chi Minh City has 6 new female recruits leaving for military service. All of them had a ceremony at the military handover point in District 10.
Female recruit Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy (born in 1999, Go Vap district) was radiant on the day of enlistment.
"Since I was little, I dreamed of becoming a soldier, so when I had the opportunity, I volunteered to join the army. I was very eager and looking forward to studying and training in a new environment, starting a new journey," Thu Thuy shared.
Attending the military handover ceremony in District 10 were comrades Phan Van Mai, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Military Service Council; Major General Hoang Dinh Chung, Political Commissar of Military Region 7; Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nam, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Commander of the Ho Chi Minh City Command; along with leaders of District 10 and 949 enlisted citizens.
At exactly 7:30 a.m., 949 young men were present at the military handover point in District 10 and began moving to the vehicles to return to their assigned units.
Relatives of newly enlisted children were also present outside the military unit's assembly area to watch the ceremony. Parents waved and looked for their children among the hundreds of young men enlisting.

Mrs. Tran Thi My Nga (Binh Thanh District) hugged her son and kissed his cheek before he got on the bus to join the army. According to Mrs. Nga, her son was on his way to join the 377th Air Defense Division.

"We've been in love for 2 years, this is the first time we've been apart for such a long time. I just hope he stays healthy, studies and trains well, and completes all assigned tasks well," Phuong Thuy, Tuyen's girlfriend, shared.
The sun was scorching hot from early morning, but many parents still stood for hours at the military enlistment gate waiting to see their children leave.
Many parents were happy, trying to run after the car and wave to their children through the window.
Many parents cried and sat on the sidewalk, stunned, watching their children's figures move further away on the bus with their teammates.
The units receiving soldiers from Ho Chi Minh City this year include: Naval Brigade 101, Naval Brigade 957, Naval Region 4 Training Center, Naval Region 2 Training Center and Division 377, Gia Dinh Regiment; 6 female citizens participating in military service were assigned to the Military School of Military Region 7.
