The "blossom" road
As one of the first localities to reach the advanced new rural area target in the province, Duc Chinh commune (Cam Giang) has focused all resources on synchronous investment in rural infrastructure development, with priority given to rural transport. Not only inter-district, inter-commune and main roads of the commune have been invested in, but also village roads and roads to the fields have been concreted.
Roads leading to villages in Duc Chinh all have lighting systems. Flowers or trees are planted on both sides of the road to create a clean, airy landscape. Ms. Tran Thi Tha, in An Phu village, said: “The staff are enthusiastic, responsible, actively propagandizing and mobilizing, the people are highly unanimous, each person contributes a little bit to plant, take care of flowers, and clean up. When traveling on beautiful roads, people are also more aware, do not litter, and clean up regularly to keep the roads clean and beautiful.”
Duc Chinh commune currently has 5 flower roads with a total length of 4.5 km. The planting and care of flowers are mainly undertaken by female members. Ms. Nguyen Thi Que, President of the Women's Union of Duc Chinh commune, shared that with the characteristics of a vegetable growing area, every day female members are busy with work in the fields or on the farm, so taking care of plants and cleaning are often done in the evening. Thanks to active propaganda and mobilization, the movement has received enthusiastic participation from the sisters. In addition to flowers such as marigolds, ten o'clocks, and five-color flowers, there are sections of roads planted with roses, hibiscus, and peonies on both sides... Each flower road helps prevent weeds, creating a beautiful landscape.
At the end of 2022, the inter-village road between Van Thai and Hoanh Loc, Cam Van commune (Cam Giang) was put into use with a total length of more than 1.1 km, 6-6.5 m wide, of which 650 m was concreted and 490 m was asphalted. The total cost of building the road was 3.4 billion VND from the local budget. These two roads are among the typical "zero-dong land clearance" roads of Cam Giang. It is called "zero-dong land clearance" because more than 110 households along both sides of the road voluntarily dismantled gates, surrounding walls, structures... and moved back 0.5-1 m to widen the road. Some families spent days dismantling, some families spent money to hire people to dismantle. These new, beautiful roads are the result of the determination and efforts of local Party committees and authorities and the solidarity and unanimous support of the people.
Keep the roads clean
Building bright, green, clean and beautiful roads has also become a trend in Doan Tung commune (Thanh Mien). Currently, most of the roads in the commune have been concreted and asphalted, ensuring smooth traffic, meeting the needs of transporting goods and developing the local economy . Attention has been paid to maintaining and improving the roads and sidewalks. At important intersections, traffic lights, electric lights, signs, directional signs and speed bumps have been installed. The locality has built 3 model roads that have become highlights and the "face" of Doan Tung. These are the 1.5 km long commune road from Road 392 to Le Trung Pagoda in Dao Lam village; the 1.4 km long road from Road 392 to the historical relic site of Dao Lam communal house and the 1.2 km long road from Road 392 to the Catholic church in Thuy Lam village. These roads are paved, on average 7-9 m wide, have trees, flower paths, and lighting to ensure brightness, greenness, cleanliness, and beauty.
To achieve this result, the Doan Tung Commune Party Committee has implemented a thematic resolution on upgrading and expanding rural roads. The Commune People's Committee assigned the Commune Fatherland Front Committee and mass organizations to take care of trees and flower roads. According to comrade Truong Van Thiem, Chairman of the Doan Tung Commune Fatherland Front Committee, every month, the mass organizations maintain a "Green Sunday". On this day, members will trim trees and clean the roads. "People voluntarily take care of trees and flower roads, maintain public hygiene with pride in taking care of the landscape where their hometown is clean, beautiful and civilized", said comrade Truong Van Thiem.
Implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Construction for the 2021-2025 period, the whole province has 1,017 km of asphalted and concreted communal roads, 2,048 village and inter-village roads are hardened to ensure convenient car travel all year round, 2,586 km of clean and muddy alleys in the rainy season, and 6,583 km of main intra-field roads to ensure convenient transportation of goods all year round.
According to the specific criteria for building advanced new rural areas in the 2021 - 2025 period, communes that have been recognized as advanced and model new rural areas must ensure that 80% or more of the kilometers of communal roads through concentrated residential areas have lighting. 50% or more of the kilometers of communal roads are planted with flowers or trees to ensure environmental landscape...
