Pioneering Party members in Pung Luong

As the Party cell secretary in the highland village of Hua Khat, where the poverty rate is still high, Mr. Thao A Phongg is always concerned about how to improve the lives and reduce poverty for the villagers. Therefore, he pioneered economic development. In 2020, he built barns, bought wild boars to raise and gradually breed them. Along with that, he brought crispy persimmon varieties to plant. Thanks to his diligence in participating in training courses and visiting effective economic models in many places, his family's livestock and crops have grown well. Every year, Mr. Phong's family harvests nearly 1 ton of commercial wild boar meat and more than 1 ton of crispy persimmons, earning a profit of nearly 150 million VND. He also regularly shares knowledge of farming and livestock raising with poor households in the village.

Mr. Phong shared: I have to be a pioneer in economic development, only when I see the effectiveness will people believe and follow. Currently, Hua Khat village still has 7 poor households and 17 near-poor households. In addition to the State's support resources, the Party cell has also received support for 1 poor household in many forms.

Sharing the view that party members must be pioneers in all work, Mr. Ho A Su in Lang Sang village, after completing his military service, took advantage of the locality to get rich. He went to Sa Pa to learn the cold-water fish farming model. In 2021, he and three brothers in his family invested more than 400 million VND to level the ground to build a pond and buy 4,000 salmon fry for experimental farming. Thanks to the correct implementation of the technique, after nearly a year, Mr. Su's family harvested more than 2 tons of fish, earning more than 400 million VND. Motivated by the success of the first batch, he expanded the farming area to include sturgeon, and the second batch is expected to earn more than 600 million VND.

Mr. Su said: I find that raising cold water fish is not as hard as growing rice, corn and other livestock, just need to apply the right techniques, when the fish are of sufficient weight then they can be sold, the consumption market is good. In the future, we will expand the pond area, buy more fish to raise to create jobs for workers in the family and locality.

Mr. Thao A Phong and Mr. Ho A Su are just two of dozens of pioneering party members in economic development in Pung Luong. Currently, the Pung Luong Commune Party Committee has 43 affiliated party cells, 25 village and hamlet party cells, with 874 party members. In recent times, the village and hamlet party cells have done a good job of propagating and bringing the Party's directives and resolutions into life, especially Resolution 68 of the Politburo on private economic development. In particular, the party cells focus on propagating and mobilizing people to increase crop cultivation, develop the economy, and attach importance to replicating effective models, good and creative practices... Therefore, in the commune, there are many party members who have promoted their core role in economic development in the commune, with models such as: growing roses; growing mushrooms, clean vegetables, crispy persimmons, pears; raising pigs, buffaloes, cows, aquatic products...

The whole commune currently has 27 enterprises and cooperatives; 107 cooperative groups and 451 individual production and business households, with total revenue reaching hundreds of billions of VND/year; average income per capita reaching more than 42 million VND, the poverty rate has decreased to 12.88%.

To develop private economic models, Comrade Giang A Vu - Party Secretary, Chairman of the People's Council of Pung Luong commune said: Implementing Resolution 68-NQ/TW of the Politburo on private economic development, the Party Committee has identified 3 breakthroughs in the 2025 - 2030 term, including breakthroughs in developing economic sectors, especially the private economy, focusing on attracting large enterprises and economic groups to invest in the fields of tourism, services, resorts, medicinal plant cultivation and agricultural product processing; promoting innovation, start-ups, supporting enterprises, cooperatives, cooperative groups, and business households to develop rapidly and strongly; creating motivation and resources for local economic development.

With the spirit of "Party members go first, the country follows", the Party Committee of Pung Luong commune directs the Party cells to promote the pioneering and exemplary role of Party members in building economic development models for people to learn and follow. Along with that, the locality also implements policies to support private economic development such as helping people access local resources of land, capital, and quality human resources. Thereby, creating a strong spread in the community, contributing to propaganda and mobilizing people to compete in economic development, building Pung Luong commune to develop more and more.
