Shelters built after floods

These days, throughout the province, the image of police officers in sweaty green uniforms, diligently carrying bags of cement and carrying bricks has become familiar. Wherever there are projects to rebuild houses, there are the silhouettes of police officers and soldiers standing side by side with the people, racing against time and even the weather to quickly restore the homes devastated by floods.

Building new houses

At noon on a weekday, we traveled nearly 80km from Nha Trang to the mountainous area of Khanh Son. The red dirt road was slippery after many consecutive days of rain, making travel even more difficult. Arriving at A Pa 2 village, Tay Khanh Son commune, we saw dozens of officers and soldiers of the commune police, the local security force, and the Mobile Police Team reinforced from the province taking turns carrying bags of cement, pushing carts of split stone and bricks up the slope to rebuild the house of Ms. Cao Thi Ta Hien's family.

Mr. Nguyen Van Can - a contractor trusted by the locality to do the construction - said: "It has been raining continuously these past few days, trucks carrying materials here often get stuck in the mud, one day the truck tilted to one side, luckily no one was hurt. We had to unload everything, then find a way to bring each brick to the construction site. It was really hard, but everyone said: people have lost their homes, if we don't hurry, where will they live this Tet?"

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Dong - Head of Tay Khanh Son Commune Police said that the commune has 2 households whose houses were completely swept away by flood, namely Mrs. Cao Thi Ta Hien and Mrs. Cao Thi Lim, both in A Pa 2 village, who were given houses by the Provincial Police. In addition to supervising the construction, the Commune Police also assigned a working group to take turns every day with other forces to support the contractor in transporting materials and protecting the construction site. We only hope that the weather will be favorable so that the workers can complete the construction on schedule and hand over the houses to the people before New Year's Day.

In Dien Dien commune, workers are also working hard to build a house for the family of Mrs. Nguyen Thi My Chau (Tay 4 village). Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Minh Tu - Secretary of the Youth Union of Dien Dien Commune Police said that every day, the Youth Union assigns working groups to take turns going to the construction site to support the contractor and the family in transporting materials, carrying, and mixing mortar. This work is not a regular task, but everyone identifies this as an opportunity for the youth of Khanh Hoa Police to promote the spirit of "Most disciplined - most loyal - closest to the people" to help the people overcome difficulties.

After 9 days of construction, Mrs. Chau's house in Dien Dien has gradually taken shape.
After 9 days of construction, the house of Mrs. Nguyen Thi My Chau's family (Dien Dien commune) has gradually taken shape.

Ms. Nguyen Thi My Chau shared that the new house was 100% funded by the Provincial Police, designed as a level 4 house with a corrugated iron roof, 1 living room, 2 sturdy bedrooms, enough for the whole family to live in for a long time. Now she just hopes the house will be finished before Tet so that her children have a place to study, and the whole family has a place to celebrate the first Tet after the disaster.

Completed on schedule

In other localities such as Cam Hiep, Hoa Thang, Khanh Vinh, Dien Lac... everywhere, officers and soldiers of the Provincial Police, Commune Police and people are seen rushing to build houses. This is not only to help people rebuild their homes, but also the responsibility and affection of the Khanh Hoa Police force towards the people. According to the Provincial Police leader, 23 houses of people who were swept away or completely collapsed by the floods at the end of November are being simultaneously built by the Provincial Police with a commitment to hand them over before December 31, 2025.

It is still raining in Khanh Hoa at night. But amidst the rain, new homes are gradually taking shape thanks to the hands and hearts of the People's Public Security soldiers. For them, seeing the smiles of the people in their new homes is the greatest joy.
