ACB Chairman Tran Hung Huy

The most famous among businesspeople born in the Year of the Horse in general, and among banking leaders in particular, is Mr. Tran Hung Huy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ACB Bank.

Mr. Tran Hung Huy was born in 1978 (Year of the Horse). Not only is he highly educated and possesses a fortune worth trillions of dong, this businessman from Tien Giang province is also notable for his handsome appearance and multifaceted talents.

Coming from an extremely well-off family, Mr. Tran Hung Huy received a solid education with a level of academic achievement that not everyone can attain. In 2000, Mr. Huy graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, and International Business from Chapman University.

Two years later, he graduated with a Master of Business Administration degree from Chapman University.

Before gaining widespread recognition in the business world and online community, Mr. Huy already held a PhD in Business Administration from Golden Gate University.

Officially taking over the chairmanship of ACB's Board of Directors in 2012, Mr. Tran Hung Huy gradually led the bank out of the "shadow" of bad debts left behind by the group of companies owned by Mr. Kien, thereby gradually transforming ACB into one of the most efficient banks with the healthiest financial indicators.

Prior to this, Mr. Tran Hung Huy had been a member of the ACB Board of Directors since 2006, and also served as Deputy General Director from 2006 to 2012.

Mr. Huy officially joined ACB in 2002 as a Market Research Specialist. He then served as Marketing Director at the bank from 2004 to 2008.

At ACB, Chairman Tran Hung Huy is also a shareholder owning over 176 million shares, equivalent to 3.42% of the bank's charter capital.

Based on current market value, Mr. Huy holds assets worth 4.2 trillion VND from the ACB shares he directly owns. This asset class places him 50th on the list of the wealthiest individuals in the Vietnamese stock market.

TPBank General Director Nguyen Hung

The second person born in the Year of the Horse is Mr. Nguyen Hung – General Director of Tien Phong Bank (TPBank).

Mr. Hung was born in 1966 (Year of the Horse), and is now 60 years old. He holds an Advanced Master of Business Administration degree from Northcentral University, USA.

Prior to his appointment as CEO of TPBank in 2012, Mr. Nguyen Hung held important positions at major banks, such as: Branch Manager of Techcombank Dong Do, Chief of Staff at Techcombank Head Office; Deputy General Director, and then General Director of VPBank.

After more than 10 years leading TPBank, Mr. Hung has made a significant contribution to transforming TPBank from a fledgling bank into a dynamic one with a young and energetic customer base by bringing banking services to the digital environment.

Taking on the position of CEO of TPBank at a time when the bank was undergoing mandatory restructuring, Mr. Hung has gradually led TPBank to become one of the leading banks today thanks to his digital channel development strategy.

Later, Mr. Hung shared that TPBank's approach was "necessity is the mother of invention."

Today, over 98% of TPBank's customer transactions take place through digital channels, with more than 14 million users, placing it among the banks with the largest customer base in the system.

Chairman of BaoViet Bank, Luu Quyet Thang

Besides the two aforementioned bank leaders, among the banking leaders (Chairman of the Board or CEO), there is another person born in the Year of the Horse: Mr. Luu Quyet Thang – Chairman of the Board of Directors of BaoViet Bank.

As a bank whose shares are not listed on the HOSE or HNX stock exchanges, information about Mr. Thang does not appear very often in the media.

However, this bank chairman, born in 1966, has been elected to the position of Chairman of BaoViet Bank for two consecutive terms from 2020 to the present (terms 2020 – 2025 and 2025 – 2030).

Baoviet Bank also has a growth foundation in 2025 02.jpg

At the end of the 2025 fiscal year, BaoViet Bank continued to record a 22.22% growth in total assets compared to 2024. This is a significant growth rate for the bank's size, demonstrating BaoViet Bank's efforts to expand its operations and increase its market presence under Mr. Thang's leadership.

In addition, the bank proactively narrowed its financial investment portfolio, with the size of its bond holdings significantly reduced compared to the previous year. This adjustment is part of a policy to restructure its asset portfolio in a more cautious direction, reducing the proportion of indirect investments to focus resources on core lending activities.

In 2025, BaoViet Bank recorded a 27.83% increase in customer deposits compared to the previous year, providing the bank with ample liquidity to meet business needs and creating room to ensure capital adequacy ratios.
