According to information from the Vietnam-Sweden Uong Bi Hospital ( Quang Ninh ), the unit recently received and successfully treated a patient named LCV (45 years old, residing in Binh Khe, Quang Ninh) who was injured in a mini gas cylinder explosion.
According to family members, while using a mini gas cylinder for cooking, the cylinder unexpectedly exploded, and metal fragments struck LCV's right thigh, causing serious injury and heavy bleeding. The family immediately rushed the victim to the hospital for emergency treatment.
The surgeons performed emergency surgery on the patient.
Upon admission, the patient was in a semi-conscious state, with pale skin and mucous membranes, a complex wound on the right thigh, and significant bleeding. A quick examination revealed a major blood vessel injury in the thigh, acute blood loss, and a life-threatening condition. Doctors immediately activated an internal hospital red alert and transferred the patient directly to the emergency operating room.
During the surgery, the team observed a long tear in the femoral vein, crushed soft tissue, a foreign body, and significant bleeding. The doctors quickly controlled the bleeding, removed the crushed tissue, repaired the femoral vein, removed the foreign body, and simultaneously administered blood transfusions and provided intensive resuscitation to the patient.
After nearly an hour of urgent surgery, the operation was successful, the patient is out of danger and continues to receive intensive monitoring and treatment at the hospital.
Doctors advise people to be especially cautious when using mini gas cylinders, and to avoid using old cylinders, those showing signs of rust, deformation, or illegal refilling. In the event of a gas explosion causing significant bleeding, it is necessary to quickly administer first aid, stop the bleeding, and take the victim to the nearest medical facility for prompt emergency treatment.
