Previously, Pac Cung village, Thuong Nong commune, with 45 households and 368 people, was one of the typical "wave-deprived" villages. Telephones could not connect to the network, and the internet was almost inaccessible, making it difficult to communicate and carry out administrative and economic activities.
Ban Van Tranh, Secretary of the village Party Cell, shared: "In the past, whenever the village or commune had something to do, I had to go to each house to inform them, or climb up the hill to 'catch the signal'. Now it's different, everyone in the village can use the phone anywhere. The work is much more convenient thanks to the efforts of the commune, province and telecommunications enterprises in eliminating signal depressions."
In August 2025, telecommunications units surveyed and installed a mobile base transceiver station (BTS) in Pac Cung village. After two months of construction, the station officially went into operation, bringing 4G network to all residents. Mr. Ban Van Vanh, a local resident, said: "Since the 4G network was available, I have bought a smartphone to make calls, access Zalo, Facebook, and learn about farming and animal husbandry online to apply to develop the family economy. Trading is also much more convenient."

Viettel technical staff upgrade and maintain broadcasting stations.
Not only Pac Cung, dozens of Mong ethnic households in Sung Lung village, Ta Lung commune, now also have access to 4G communication services. Viettel Tuyen Quang has deployed the construction and installation of BTS stations, demonstrating its efforts to cover broadband in especially difficult communes.
Mr. Le Duy Huy, Head of Viettel Tuyen Quang Infrastructure Department, informed: "Since the beginning of the year, Viettel has installed 130 3G and 4G stations, of which more than 70 stations serve villages and hamlets with no signal. This is an important step to help eliminate signal depressions and improve connection quality for remote areas."
According to the survey, most of the white wave villages are in areas with complex terrain, no electricity, difficult traffic, sparse population, so the demand for telecommunications and internet services is low, revenue from infrastructure is low, while investment costs are high. A BTS station costs from 500 million VND to 1 billion VND, a transmission line is about 500 million VND/km. Therefore, the expansion of infrastructure must balance resources, both serving the political tasks of the locality and ensuring the production and business efficiency of enterprises.
Comrade Pham Ninh Thai, Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Tuyen Quang, affirmed: "Eliminating white areas, signal dips and overcoming villages without broadband internet are identified as the number 1 priority task in developing infrastructure to serve digital transformation. The Department has reviewed the specific list for each village, directed and coordinated with telecommunications enterprises, removed difficulties and created the most favorable mechanism to deploy digital infrastructure."

BTS station Pac Cung village, Thuong Nong commune has just been invested in construction.
However, due to the mountainous terrain, Tuyen Quang still has 273 villages with no signal or no signal. Continuing to invest in telecommunications infrastructure, broadband coverage and internet connection in remote areas is still a key task, creating a foundation for socio-economic development and comprehensive digital transformation in the area.
