
Officers and soldiers of Trung Ly Border Guard Station patrol and control the border from marker 314 to marker 315.
The Trung Ly Border Guard Post is stationed in Tao village, Trung Ly commune. The unit's area of responsibility includes 15 villages with a population of 1,373 households/6,948 people from four ethnic groups: Mong, Thai, Muong, and Kinh. The unit is tasked with managing and protecting 7.776 km of border, with four border markers (from marker 313 to marker 316); protecting national sovereignty and territorial integrity; maintaining border security, political security, and social order and safety in its assigned area.
More than just a "steel shield" on the border, the soldiers of Trung Ly Border Guard Post are also brothers in the hearts of the local people. With the motto "3 close ties, 4 together," these green-uniformed soldiers have become a reliable support for the people in the border area. The unit has closely coordinated with local authorities and functional forces stationed in the area to organize 225 sessions of legal education and awareness for 11,926 people. At the same time, they introduced 3 Party members to 3 border Party branches; coordinated the organization of 5 literacy and re-literacy classes for 158 women's association members in Trung Ly commune. The unit assigned 30 Party members to be in charge of 135 households, building a "Small change - sharing difficulties" model, and donated 850 ducklings to the people. Implementing the "Bright Village in the Border Region" model, the unit connected with and mobilized resources to build infrastructure, provide seedlings and livestock for Ta Com village with a total of 600 million VND. Through the "Spring Border Guard Program: Warming the Hearts of the Villagers," activities of gratitude and repayment, connecting support, and giving gifts to policy beneficiary families, families in difficult circumstances, and students in the area, and donating facilities to support schools, totaling over 2 billion VND. Over the years, the unit has effectively implemented models such as "Helping Children Go to School," "Adopted Children of Border Guard Posts," and livelihood support programs for the people. From solar-powered streetlights installed along village roads to gifts and scholarships for underprivileged students, all reflect the affection and responsibility of border guards towards the people in the border region.
Over the past five years, the Trung Ly Border Guard Station has coordinated with other functional forces to detect and handle dozens of cases related to drug crimes, smuggling, and illegal entry and exit. The unit has spearheaded the arrest and prosecution of 26 cases/27 individuals involved in drug-related crimes, seizing 29,381 synthetic drug pills, 2 kg of methamphetamine, 141.696 g of heroin, and 13.5 kg of opium pods. In coordination with other forces, they have arrested and prosecuted 12 cases/13 individuals for illegal possession, buying, selling, and transporting of narcotics, seizing 35 kg of opium pods, 1.693 kg of opium resin, 0.55 g and 2 blocks of heroin, 0.5 kg of methamphetamine, and 28,162 synthetic drug pills. Propaganda and mobilization efforts led to the surrender of 130 firearms of various types by the people... contributing to cleaning up the area and maintaining peace in the people's lives.
Every officer and soldier at Trung Ly Border Guard Post considers helping the people as a regular duty. During the rainy season and floods, they are present in critical areas to assist in evacuating people, rebuilding houses, and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters. Many officers also directly go to each village to guide the people on livestock farming and crop cultivation techniques to increase income and reduce poverty sustainably. Besides helping the people develop economically , Trung Ly Border Guard Post also focuses on disseminating legal information and raising awareness among the people about protecting the border, boundary markers, and preventing and combating various types of crime. Community activities, border markets, and meetings at the village cultural center have become places that strengthen the bond between the military and the people. This is not only a beautiful act but also a symbol of the spirit of "The post is our home, the border is our homeland, and the people of all ethnic groups are our brothers and sisters."
Major Nguyen Van Thien, Political Officer of Trung Ly Border Guard Station, said: "We consider helping the people as a combat mission in peacetime. When the people have stable lives and trust the border guards, the people's border defense posture will become increasingly strong."
The light that Trung Ly Border Guard Post brings is not just the light bulbs in remote villages, but also the light of faith, hope, and change in the border region of our Fatherland. Through simple yet meaningful actions, these soldiers are contributing to writing a beautiful story about soldiers in green uniforms in peacetime.
