Where "The unit is home, comrades are brothers."

Welcoming family members to visit the unit and providing thoughtful care in terms of accommodation and meals, as well as morale, is how Regiment 754 motivates 300 new recruits. The support of family and the unit is a "golden foundation" that helps the new recruits feel more secure during their first days of enlistment.

We visited the 1st Infantry Battalion, 754th Regiment, Son La Provincial Military Command on a weekend morning, the same day the unit was hosting visits from soldiers' relatives after a month of enlistment. By 7:00 AM, the gate of the 1st Infantry Battalion was already crowded with relatives of soldiers from distant places, lining up, registering, and being directed to the unit's reception area to meet their loved ones.

The commander of Regiment 754 welcomes relatives of soldiers visiting the unit.

Captain Lo Duc Quang, Deputy Political Officer of the 1st Infantry Battalion, 754th Regiment, Son La Provincial Military Command, said: "When soldiers' families come to visit, unit officers and commanders directly welcome them, guide them through the registration process, and explain the regulations for entering and leaving the unit. They also provide a general overview of the duties, learning environment, and training of new recruits, and dedicate time for families to meet and encourage their children. Through this activity, the families of the soldiers have a better understanding of the military environment, thereby feeling reassured, trusting, and supportive of the unit in managing the soldiers' thoughts, training, and development."

Officers and soldiers of Regiment 754 participated in a cultural exchange with the families of soldiers.

To ensure a warm welcome for the families of soldiers visiting their children, the entire unit's officers and soldiers participated in tidying up the barracks to make them bright, green, clean, and beautiful. To the right of the unit's entrance gate is a large banner with the words: "Warmly welcome the families of soldiers visiting the unit." This is also a popular spot for families to take commemorative photos with the unit. To the left of the entrance gate, tables, chairs, drinking water, and other necessary amenities are provided, creating a comfortable, cheerful, and welcoming atmosphere for families visiting and encouraging the soldiers.

The commander of Regiment 754 discusses the training progress of the soldiers with their families.

Speaking to reporters after taking a commemorative photo with her son and his comrades, Ms. Mui Thi Hoa from Chau Phong village, To Mua commune, emotionally shared: "More than a month after my son left for military service, my husband, children, and grandchildren came to visit him while he was training at the 1st Infantry Battalion, 754th Regiment, Son La Provincial Military Command. Here, we were warmly and thoughtfully welcomed by the unit commanders and his comrades. Even in this short time, we've seen him mature and become much stronger, which makes us very happy. We also got to see where he eats, lives, and trains; everything is clean, tidy, and well-organized. The family is excited and very reassured, believing that he will successfully complete all assigned tasks."

Family members visit the soldiers' living quarters.

Reuniting with family after more than a month away from home, living and training in the military environment, Private Mua A Hau, a soldier in Company 3, 1st Infantry Battalion, shared: "Meeting and welcoming my family right here at my living and training place gives me a huge boost in morale. My family understands my life in the army better, and from there they can share and encourage me to strive to train well and adhere to discipline; this further motivates me to work harder in my studies and training, to develop my character and willpower, and to successfully complete the assigned tasks, worthy of my family's trust and the unit's care."

Family is the soldier's pillar of support.

Witnessing the smiles, joy, and even tears on the faces of soldiers and their families visiting the unit, Lieutenant Colonel Bui Van In, Political Commissar of Regiment 754, shared: "In the management and training of new recruits, besides regularly monitoring the soldiers' morale, we inherit and apply appropriate management methods. Coordination between the unit, local authorities, and families is an effective solution, with models such as: Zalo groups for family support, family connection hours... Especially, organizing family visits on weekends is very important. The unit organizes receptions, meetings, information exchange about the soldiers' situation at the unit, and also gathers more information about each soldier's family circumstances, abilities, and strengths. Through this, we can develop more effective management, training, and development methods."

Officers and soldiers of Regiment 754 pose for a commemorative photo with the relatives of fallen soldiers.

As the officers and soldiers of Regiment 754 departed, the image of the unit's commanding officers seeing off the soldiers' family members at the gate, along with firm handshakes and radiant eyes conveying their trust in this place, made us feel even more strongly the meaning of the saying: "The unit is home, comrades are brothers." We are confident that the unit, along with their families and loved ones, will be a solid support system for these young soldiers to successfully complete all assigned tasks, contributing to the building and firm protection of the Vietnamese Fatherland.
