After 7 years of establishment, the exhibition is like a milestone in the journey of collecting works that Hue Fine Arts Museum wants to send to art lovers. These are works of typical artistic value and distinctive creative style of Hue visual artists or those living, studying and working in Hue. Each work represents a creative period of the author, or represents a period of Vietnamese fine arts in general, Hue fine arts in particular in a certain historical period.
In the space of this building with beautiful architecture on the banks of the poetic Huong River, viewers can encounter works representing the creative periods of famous authors. The first half of the 20th century with the presence of Ton That Sa; the period 1930 - 1945 with Mai Trung Thu, Ton That Dao; or the period 1945 - 1975 such as Phan Xuan Sanh, Do Ky Hoang, Vinh Phoi, Lam Triet, Ton That Van, Dinh Cuong, Truong Be, Hoang Dang Nhuan, Le Quy Long, Cong Huyen Ton Nu Tuyet Mai, Buu Chi, Duong Dinh Sang... And it is impossible not to mention the second half of the 20th century and young artists with other new art forms such as video art, installation art.
For various reasons, the Hue Fine Arts Museum has not yet had a permanent display space for the artworks purchased from the budget as well as donated by authors and collectors. Therefore, these works have been kept in storage for a long time, so when they are put on exhibition, the public is always eagerly waiting.
“There are works that you can immediately recognize the author when you see them. They are names that cannot be ignored in Hue fine arts. The beautiful works of Mai Trung Thu, Ton That Dao, Hoang Dang Nhuan… have something attractive and strongly attract the viewer,” said Nguyen Trong Huy (Hue City) - an art lover after admiring the works.
Mr. Huy said that he had seen many works of famous painters of Hue but there was no systematic and gathering with many famous works like this. Unfortunately, although he had collected quite a large number of works, the arrangement of a permanent exhibition space had not been resolved.
As Mr. Huy shared, after 7 years of formation and development, besides the two art spaces Le Ba Dang and Diem Phung Thi which already have ideal exhibition locations, the fine art space still does not have a display space that is commensurate with its value. "Then after the exhibition, people take it down to put it in storage. Meanwhile, this is a collection that needs a permanent place to display and promote part of the value of Hue's cultural heritage in general and Hue's fine arts in particular," Mr. Huy regretted.
Ms. Dinh Thi Hoai Trai, Director of the Hue Fine Arts Museum, said that, in addition to professional activities, the collection work is always the top concern of the Museum. Therefore, in addition to the two collections of artworks by painter Le Ba Dang and sculptor Diem Phung Thi, the Museum always focuses and devotes its efforts to collecting works by famous painters of the ancient capital.
During that process, the Museum was fortunate to receive the consensus, support and facilitation of the late artist's family, painters, sculptors... thanks to which it was able to access many works of artistic value. From there, it added to the Museum's collection to best serve the work of preserving, researching and promoting the value of the nation's cultural heritage.
Although there is not yet a proper space for the works in the collection, which is considered "golden", Ms. Dinh Thi Hoai Trai hopes that this exhibition will be a tribute and an affirmation of the great contributions of artists and the community to Hue fine arts during the 7 years of operation of the Museum.
