The integrated economic model of Mr. Vu Minh Luong's family in Tan Son village, Nong Cong commune.
In Nong Cong today, the economic landscape of the people has changed significantly, reflected in their systematic planning regarding market and technology. This shift is not simply a change in crops or livestock, but a leap from " agricultural production" to "agricultural economy," where added value is prioritized. Many families, formerly poor or near-poor, have risen to a comfortable standard of living and improved their incomes through persistent investment in livestock farming and crop cultivation. These economic models provide local employment, reduce migration, and contribute to the New Rural Development movement in the area.
The integrated economic model of Mr. Vu Minh Luong's family in Tan Son village is a clear example of the economic transformation in the area. Born and raised in a purely agricultural family, Mr. Luong faced numerous difficulties in his early years of establishing his business. When the local government implemented a land allocation policy, he leased nearly 1 hectare to develop his economy, mainly focusing on fruit tree cultivation and aquaculture. Thanks to his perseverance and the application of suitable production methods, he has risen to become a well-off household, earning over 400 million VND per year.
Following the merger, the commune redefined its development space and set development directions for each sector. In agriculture, the commune provided maximum support to replicate effective circular economy models implemented by the people. Leveraging the local potential and advantages, and with the desire to help people increase their income, the commune actively implemented many comprehensive solutions, mobilizing the entire political system to participate. Along with propaganda and the transfer of science and technology, mass organizations also received entrusted capital, creating conditions for people to expand production and develop economic models. As a result, many households had more opportunities to invest, improve production efficiency, and increase their income. One example is the high-tech tomato cultivation model in Tien Luoc village, which yields 500-600 million VND/hectare/season. High-tech greenhouse and net house models for growing super-yield cucumbers and baby cucumbers in Dong Tho, Tan Dan, and Le Xa 2 villages are estimated to yield 200-250 million VND/ha/year; a model of linked organic rice production according to VietGAP standards on 25 hectares in Truong Quang village yields 125-130 million VND/ha/year.
In addition, the commune, in coordination with the Provincial Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, implemented a model of organic fertilizer application for sedge plants on an area of 10 hectares in Truong Loan village; and tested an organic fertilizer application formula on 5 hectares for sedge in Cong Hoa 2 village. The model has been evaluated as effective and will be replicated on a larger scale... To date, the total area under contract farming and product distribution in the commune is expected to reach 262 hectares by 2025.
Beyond traditional agricultural production methods, new agricultural economic models have created high-quality products with a distinct local character. Currently, the commune has 6 products recognized as 3-star OCOP products, including: Purple Rice from the former Minh Khoi commune; Aiko Melon from the former Nong Cong town; Cung Dien Specialty Clean Rice from the former Minh Nghia commune; Van Thang Incense Sticks from the former Van Thang commune; Nam Khanh Bird's Nest and Nam Khanh Ready-to-Eat Bird's Nest in Jars from the former Van Hoa commune. The strong development of these economic models has brought about significant changes in the lives of the people of Nong Cong, raising the average per capita income of the commune to over 70 million VND/person/year.
The achievements clearly demonstrate the strong transformation of a rural area striving for progress, while affirming the leading role, proactive spirit, and determination of the people in building a modern new rural area. Economic models in Nong Cong are proving effective and sustainable, contributing to poverty reduction, income improvement, and building a solid foundation for the sustainable development of the locality.
