Currently, the winter-spring rice fields outside the dike in Nho Quan district are ripening. This is the area affected by the small flood of Hoang Long river. This rice crop is a bumper crop, and with favorable weather, the atmosphere of farmers harvesting in the fields here is very urgent and bustling.
A representative of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Nho Quan district said: This winter-spring crop, the entire Nho Quan district has planted 7,438 hectares, of which the rice area outside the dike is nearly 1,800 hectares, accounting for nearly 25%. This is an early spring crop, also an area that needs to be harvested early and quickly, avoiding the small floods that often appear in late May. This winter-spring rice crop is a good harvest, with an estimated yield of nearly 65 quintals/ha.
Together with the representative of the district's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Truong Van Lap, Director of Lac Van Agricultural Cooperative, visited the fields. This winter-spring crop, with the close guidance of all levels, sectors, and localities, the district's planting schedule was well followed, so after the transplanting period, the weather conditions were favorable for the rice plants to grow and develop well.
The district People's Committee and specialized departments have directed communes and agricultural cooperatives to take advantage of the weather, plant in the best time frame, and fertilize early, so the rice grows and develops quite well. The entire cooperative has nearly 400 hectares, of which 20 hectares of rice outside the dike have been harvested. The cooperative's management board has coordinated to bring 14 combine harvesters to harvest ripe rice in all 10 hamlets. It is expected that by May 20, all ripe rice areas in the area will be completed.
The weather is favorable, many fields can be easily harvested by harvesters to help farmers avoid the sun and floods. Each sao only takes about 5-7 minutes to have the rice packaged, rolled into a wide corner, and farmers just need to bring it home to dry.
Before 9 am, Mr. Quach Van Giap, Dong Quan village (Lac Van commune) had rice to dry. Mr. Giap happily said: The family finished harvesting rice outside the dike, this is the second day of gathering manpower to harvest rice in the field. Although the exact measurements have not been made, it is estimated that this rice crop's yield is about 40% higher than the previous winter-spring crop.
Like Lac Van commune, many farming households in Gia Tuong and Gia Thuy communes also shared the joy of the good rice harvest. Mr. Dinh Van Quang, Director of Gia Thuy Cooperative happily said: This crop has good rice, as soon as the rice is ripe, farmers are excited to go to the fields to harvest quickly. If conditions are favorable, they use harvesters, if the fields are sunken, they mobilize workers to harvest by hand.
The entire Gia Thuy Agricultural Cooperative has 351 hectares of cultivated land. After only a few days of going to the fields, nearly half of the area has been harvested, including the entire area outside the dike. At the current harvesting speed, by May 25, the Gia Thuy Agricultural Cooperative will have finished harvesting all the rice in the fields.
The rice fields outside the Hoang Long and Boi River dykes in Nho Quan and Gia Vien districts are often affected by minor floods every year. This year, minor floods are expected to appear on May 21, which is only a few days away. |
