The Farmers' Association of Ngoc Chien commune currently has 2,254 members operating in 15 branches. Working alongside its members, the Farmers' Association has effectively implemented the movement "Farmers competing in excellent production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty"; mobilizing farmers to transform the structure of crops and livestock, expanding production scale towards commercialization; building, developing and upgrading OCOP products, contributing to increasing the value and competitiveness of local agricultural products.
Mr. Trang A Mua, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Ngoc Chien commune, said: "To support members in developing their economy , the Association has focused on reviewing the actual needs of each branch to advise on building economic models suitable to the advantages of each village, such as supplying seeds, fertilizers, organizing training on production techniques, and supporting loan access. Currently, the Association is entrusted with nearly 30 billion VND from the Social Policy Bank, combined with 700 million VND from the Farmers' Support Fund, to support more than 1,600 members in borrowing capital to invest in production and improve the economic efficiency of their households."
Visiting the organic tomato and cucumber greenhouse model of Mr. Lo Van Xuan's family in Muong Chien village, Mr. Xuan shared: "In 2022, I decided to convert 1 hectare of low-yield rice land to growing tomatoes, cucumbers, and zucchini; investing 200 million VND to build a greenhouse, install an automatic drip irrigation system, and apply organic farming techniques. Each year, my family harvests over 100 tons of cucumbers, 60 tons of tomatoes, and 30 tons of zucchini. After deducting expenses, we earn a profit of over 350 million VND."
Along with encouraging farmers to compete in production and business, the Farmers' Association of the commune also propagated, mobilized, advised, and guided the establishment of 6 cooperatives, gradually forming a linked chain from production to product consumption.
Mr. Nguyen The Cong, a member of the Ngoc Chien High-Tech Vegetable and Flower Cooperative, said: The cooperative has 7 members focusing on high-tech vegetable, bean, and flower production on an area of about 9 hectares. Each year, the cooperative harvests nearly 600 tons of various vegetables and fruits; after deducting expenses, the profit reaches nearly 1 billion VND; creating regular jobs for 50 local workers, with incomes ranging from 6-11 million VND/month.
With the support of the farmers' association, the movement of farmers competing in excellent production and business in the commune has spread widely. Many effective economic models have been formed, contributing to increasing income for members and promoting the development of agricultural economy towards a commodity-based approach. The entire commune currently maintains over 2,680 hectares of fruit trees; 700 hectares of rice, 100 hectares of corn, and more than 400 hectares of vegetables and flowers. The people in the commune also focus on developing livestock and poultry farming, especially raising the native Ngoc Chien green-necked duck; developing forestry economy associated with growing medicinal herbs, ginseng, and raising salmon in Nam Nghep village...
By 2025, the entire commune will have 745 households of outstanding farmers and business owners at all levels, with many large-scale production models bringing in hundreds of millions of dong in income each year, such as: Lo Van An and Lo Van Xuan households in Muong Chien village; Luong Van Thuong household in Phay village; Lo Van Hac household in Luot village; Lo Van Xien household in Dong Xuong village; Quang Van Hoang household in Khua Vai village; Khang A Cau and Thao A Vang households in Nam Nghep village...
Continuing to support its members in economic development, the Ngoc Chien Commune Farmers' Association has intensified training and technology transfer; and assisted members in accessing preferential capital sources to develop production. Through this, it affirms its role as a solid support for farmer members, contributing to the sustainable development of the local agricultural economy.
