Mr. Le Bao Xieng, from Vinh Kien hamlet, Nga Nam ward, inspects his soursop orchard in preparation for sale during the 2026 Lunar New Year.

Mr. Tran Duong Cam, a farmer specializing in vegetable cultivation for nearly 20 years in Dai Nghia Thang hamlet, My Xuyen ward, shared: “For the Tet holiday crop, I grow cauliflower because it can be preserved for a long time and used in a variety of dishes, so it's popular in the market. Currently, my 2,000m² cauliflower crop has been planted for over a month. I will harvest around the 25th of the 12th lunar month, estimating a yield of 3 tons. With a selling price similar to the same period last year, from 7,000-9,000 VND/kg, after deducting expenses, the profit will be over 14 million VND per Tet crop.”

To prepare for selling cantaloupe during the Lunar New Year of 2026 (Year of the Horse), in early November of the lunar calendar, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Duy, from Kiet Binh hamlet, Lam Tan commune, planted 2,200 square meters of cantaloupe , estimating a yield of 12 tons; along with 300 pairs of cantaloupes with carved inscriptions. The cantaloupe is sold under a guaranteed purchase agreement at a price of 50,000 VND/kg; the carved cantaloupes are priced from 420,000 to 450,000 VND per pair. The estimated profit from this cantaloupe crop for the Lunar New Year, after deducting expenses, is over 250 million VND.

Visiting the custard apple orchard of Mr. Le Bao Xieng in Vinh Kien hamlet, Nga Nam ward, Mr. Xieng said, "I have 1 hectare of custard apple trees for commercial sale year-round. For the custard apples sold during Tet (Lunar New Year), I set aside a certain number of trees and then treat them to flower and bear fruit so that they can be harvested at the right time for Tet. This Tet, I estimate the harvest will be over 1 ton, with a selling price of around 30,000-32,000 VND/kg."

As an experienced orchard owner with many years of experience cultivating pomelos at the right time for sale during the Lunar New Year, Mr. Le Van Phai, from Kinh Giua 1 hamlet, Ke Sach commune, commented: “The fruit market this Tet season is very promising, especially for green-skinned pomelos and Nam Roi pomelos. Traders come directly to the orchards to buy them at prices ranging from 25,000 to 29,000 VND/kg, higher than the same period last year. With 4 hectares of pomelo trees and the above selling prices, Mr. Phai estimates he will earn more than 800 million VND this Tet season.”

To ensure that fruits sold for Tet (Lunar New Year) celebrations are of good quality in terms of appearance and quality, authorities recommend that orchard owners pay attention to cultivating fruit trees according to VietGAP, GlobalGAP, and organic standards, and to bag the fruits to prevent pest attacks.
