According to the plan, in the 2026 Summer-Autumn rice crop season, Chau Thoi commune will plant 7,622 hectares. The sowing time is as follows... From May 15th to June 25th (Gregorian calendar), simultaneous planting not only helps avoid pests and diseases but also facilitates water management and rice cultivation.

Observations in the fields show that farmers have proactively cleaned their fields, prepared the soil, reinforced dikes, and ensured that planting is carried out according to the seasonal schedule.
Mr. Nguyen Hoang Em, from Bao Sen hamlet, said: “Currently, my family is urgently preparing the land and water sources, and we expect to sow the seeds in a few days. This season, I am using the OM18 variety because it is less prone to lodging and suitable for our farming conditions.”
Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Van Nguyen, from Tra Hat hamlet, shared that he had prepared to sow 30 acres of ST24 rice, proactively managing everything from seeds to machinery, thus speeding up the process.

In parallel with the planting schedule, the crop structure is clearly guided by the local authorities according to the recommendations of the Ca Mau Provincial Department of Agriculture . Key rice varieties such as OM18, Dai Thom 8, ST24, ST25, etc., continue to be encouraged for use in this year's Summer-Autumn rice crop.
To improve the efficiency of the summer-autumn rice crop, the local authorities also guide farmers to sow at the correct density, use balanced fertilizers and pesticides according to the "4 correct principles"; at the same time, apply advanced IPM techniques, "3 reductions, 3 increases", "1 must, 5 reductions", reduce emissions; and promote mechanization in production stages to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
Many households have applied mechanization to production, using machinery to build embankments, contributing to saving time and labor.
According to Nguyen Tan Trang, Deputy Head of the Economic Department of Chau Thoi commune: “The locality has proactively issued a production plan, implemented a seasonal schedule and crop structure according to the guidance of the provincial agricultural sector. Farmers have basically completed all preparations and are ready to enter the new production season.”
In addition, the commune is focusing on strengthening the operations of cooperatives and cooperative groups; enhancing connections with businesses and traders to sell products, gradually forming a value chain. The development of high-quality rice production areas and production based on orders from businesses continues to be encouraged.
The entire Chau Thoi commune currently has 11 water pumping stations, ensuring a proactive water supply for production and creating favorable conditions for farmers to start the summer-autumn rice crop on schedule.
