Open development space
Dr. Phan Cong Kien - Deputy Director of Nha Ho Cotton Research and Agricultural Development Institute ( Ministry of Agriculture and Environment ) said: "The merger of the province will create a new, comprehensive and diverse development space in all fields for Khanh Hoa, especially agriculture. After the merger, Khanh Hoa province owns a diverse land fund and natural features, from coastal plains to semi-mountainous and micro-desert areas; which are ideal conditions for developing many types of crops and livestock, creating a rich and diverse agricultural structure in aquaculture, tropical fruit trees, drought-resistant crops (such as grapes, apples, aloe vera, garlic), goat and sheep farming... In particular, the province has many areas of sandy soil, rare red basalt soil, suitable for specialty crops of high economic value, attracting many businesses to invest in implementing high-tech agricultural projects.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuan - Director of Linh Dan Ninh Thuan Co., Ltd., Phan Rang Ward said: "Currently, the company has more than 150 hectares of green asparagus, supplying the market with about 4 tons of fresh green asparagus every day, of which nearly 3 tons are exported to countries such as Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Dubai... To meet the demand of foreign markets, the company is preparing to expand and develop the raw material area, expected to reach 200 hectares. The merger of the province not only creates favorable conditions for the company to implement the plan to expand production scale, but also creates jobs and increases income for many farmers".
In addition to the advantages of natural conditions, after the merger, the population size of the province increased significantly, helping to expand the domestic consumption market. Khanh Hoa is also famous as a locality developing tourism, with a long coastline, the world's top beautiful bays, attracting a large number of domestic and foreign tourists to visit and relax. Thanks to the continuous improvement of the quality and value of agricultural products, especially local specialties, which are increasingly accessible, increasing consumption output at supermarkets, shopping centers, restaurants, hotels, etc. Combined agricultural tourism models are increasingly developing. In addition, Khanh Hoa is located in the center of the South Central Coast, with a seaport, Cam Ranh international airport and a vital traffic system such as the North-South Expressway, National Highway 1, National Highway 27B connecting to the Central Highlands. All of the above factors are outstanding advantages to help introduce, promote, and bring local agricultural products to consumers and tourists, and access large domestic and export markets.

Even more exciting is that the merger of the province will help Khanh Hoa own a system of rich OCOP products, with 335 products, helping to improve competitiveness, enhance the brand, and be the driving force for the development of an increasingly modern and sustainable agricultural sector.
Promoting regional linkages towards sustainable agriculture
As one of the localities with a diverse agricultural ecosystem, possessing the most specialties in the country, according to experts, the effective solution to create a breakthrough for Khanh Hoa's agricultural sector is to focus on comprehensively developing groups of plants and animals that are strong and specific to the province such as: grapes, apples, aloe vera, garlic, green asparagus, goats, sheep, bird's nests, mangoes, purple sugarcane, durian, high-quality rice varieties, aquaculture products... At the same time, promoting the application of high technology, developing agricultural value chains according to a closed model, closely linking from production, harvesting, processing, preservation, distribution to consumption to increase production value, towards modern, professional, sustainable agriculture, gradually eliminating the current fragmented and small-scale production. Enterprises in the province are also expecting expanded raw material areas, more convenient logistics, closer markets and clearer investment opportunities.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Duy - Chairman of the Board of Directors of DT Group, DT Food Joint Stock Company, Bac Nha Trang Ward said: “Currently, the company has a total production area of 75 hectares, including areas for growing sea grapes, exploiting and raising bird's nests. The merger of the province helps us access more diverse sources of raw materials and technology; we can take advantage of the soil and climate of the new land to research and expand production to other agricultural products with high economic value. At the same time, it creates favorable conditions for linking and developing agricultural tourism models. In particular, a larger province not only creates favorable conditions in terms of land and labor but also helps businesses have a stronger voice in trade negotiations and investment promotion”.
Mr. Vo Van Cong - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment commented: “This is a golden opportunity to build integrated agricultural value chains. The connection between ecological sub-regions allows production to be regulated more reasonably, limiting fragmentation, increasing investment efficiency and market connection. At the same time, regional connection is also the key for the province's agricultural sector to develop substantially and sustainably, not only in scale but also in quality”.
It can be affirmed that the merger of the province has created an important and strategic turning point for the agricultural sector and rural economy. With a diverse ecosystem, an expanded domestic market, a favorable geographical location, and increasingly complete infrastructure, Khanh Hoa has a solid foundation, potential, and advantages to strongly develop the agricultural sector. However, restructuring the agricultural sector towards modernity, sustainability, and efficiency after the merger requires a new management mindset. Experts say that in order to maximize the advantages, the province needs to establish a scientific production planning area, suitable to natural conditions; plan and distribute reasonably and clearly between specialty agricultural areas, high-tech agriculture, and agriculture serving ecotourism; this will also create favorable conditions for businesses to explore investment.
Dr. Phan Cong Kien emphasized: "New space needs to go hand in hand with new thinking. If we know how to take advantage of regional advantages and create a smooth flow of human resources, technology, infrastructure, and markets, the province's agricultural sector will become a new growth pole."
