The event will be attended by government leaders, representatives of ministries, localities and about 500 businesses; including 300 businesses from Korea and 300 from Vietnam. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the President of Korea are expected to attend and deliver speeches at the event.
The theme of the Vietnam - Korea Economic Forum 2023 is to look forward to 30 years of new relations, the Vietnam - Korea Industrial Cooperation Strategy in the future. At the same time, it focuses on global value chain (GVC) cooperation, digital transformation (DX) and climate change action program.

The Vietnam – Korea Economic Forum is organized by the Ministry of Planning and Investment of Vietnam; Ministry of Industry and Trade of Korea; Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The Foreign Investment Agency, Ministry of Planning and Investment said that among the Korean enterprises participating in the event, there were leaders of leading economic groups in Korea and Vietnam such as: Samsung Electronics Group, Doosan Enerbility Group, VINFAST Company, Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Shinhan Bank, etc.
Enterprises will bring to the Vietnam - Korea Economic Forum 2023 presentations related to the following topics: Supporting the development of the electronic components industry; Net-zero transformation: Korea - Vietnam cooperation in the energy sector; business cooperation opportunities in the field of green transportation using clean energy; cooperation in digital transformation and fintech...
According to the leader of the Foreign Investment Agency, Ministry of Planning and Investment, the presence of the business delegation, especially the leading billionaires from Korea and the world, has brought new expectations for promoting investment cooperation between Vietnam and Korea. All five major Korean corporations have invested on a large scale in Vietnam and are preparing expansion investment plans.
According to the plan, Samsung will invest an additional 3.3 billion USD in Vietnam; of which, 2 billion USD has been invested in projects in Thai Nguyen and Ho Chi Minh City. It is expected that by the end of this year, Samsung will put into mass production semiconductor chip grid products at the Samsung Electro-Mechanics Vietnam Factory in Thai Nguyen.
At the end of 2022, the Chairman of LG Group revealed that LG will invest an additional 5 billion USD in Vietnam in the near future. Meanwhile, Lotte Group is in the process of completing Lotte MALL Hanoi and building the smart complex - Lotte Eco Smart Thu Thiem.
In early September 2022, when coming to Vietnam to attend the groundbreaking ceremony of this project, Lotte Chairman Shin Dong-bin said that Lotte Eco Smart Thu Thiem will mark the "starting point" for Lotte Group's upcoming investment expansion activities in Vietnam.
Vietnam and South Korea established diplomatic relations in December 1992 and became Strategic Cooperative Partners in October 2009. The two countries upgraded their relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in December 2022.
Currently, Korea is one of Vietnam's leading important partners, ranking first in investment, second in ODA, and third in trade. Total bilateral trade turnover in 2022 reached 87 billion USD, up 11.4% compared to 2021.
