Female Front cadre devoted to the people

For Ms. Thuong, to gain the trust and support of the people, the Front cadres must be pioneers, take the lead in all activities, regularly spend time in the field, visit each household to grasp the thoughts and aspirations, know how to listen to the people, speak so that they understand and make them believe. From there, they can gather the masses, build strong solidarity from each residential area and alley. At the same time, they must boldly make recommendations and propose to the Party Committee and the government to have solutions to support and help the people, especially for policy families and poor households. Therefore, when implementing movements and campaigns, Ms. Thuong always received high response and consensus from the people.

Being a mountainous area, although the Party Committee and authorities at all levels have paid great attention, the lives of the people in Ka Tang hamlet still face many difficulties. With the desire to help the people, Mrs. Thuong often spends all of her allowance to buy rice and necessities to give to households facing difficulties in the hamlet and village. In addition, with the desire to help the people here develop the economy and improve their lives, Mrs. Thuong also uses her own money to buy 5 breeding goats to give to 5 poor households.

From here, the model of "Goat Breeding Bank" was born and has helped poor households of ethnic minorities have the conditions to develop the economy and increase income. From 5 goats with 5 households initially participating, up to now, the number of households supported to participate in the model is 18 households with a total herd of up to 146 goats, of which the largest household currently has 11 goats, thereby creating a sustainable source of livelihood for people to strive to escape poverty.

Later, with partial financial support from the Commune Women's Union, Ms. Thuong changed the model from supporting goats to supporting breeding cows. Each household was supported with a breeding cow worth 12 million VND, of which 5 million VND came from the Commune Women's Union's budget and 7 million VND was mobilized by Ms. Thuong from benefactors and her personal support. Up to now, 7 poor households have been supported with breeding cows and the total herd has increased to nearly 30 cows.

Sharing more about this model, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuong said: “To gain people’s trust, the Front officials must set an example. Only by talking and doing can we propagate and mobilize people to actively participate. In supporting people in raising cows, I have researched and learned about animal husbandry so that I can guide people on how to build barns and animal husbandry techniques, and have also directly supported some households in raising cows until the cows give birth and then bring them to the households to continue raising. I find that doing so is highly effective, helping people have conditions to develop production and have a stable income.”

In addition, in cultural - artistic, physical training - sports activities, National Great Unity Day in residential areas and activities organized by the commune, Ms. Thuong and her children always accompany, support and contribute funds to the organization.

In addition to supporting people in economic development, Ms. Thuong always focuses on border security, including launching a mass movement to protect border lines and landmarks; not encroaching on land; and strengthening friendly relations between residents on both sides of the border. Through community activities, in the languages of the Van Kieu and Pa Ko people, Ms. Thuong has promoted content on border security, national sovereignty , drug prevention, etc. Propaganda in the local people's language has helped people better understand the content they want to convey, contributing to positive results.

Mr. Nguyen Truong Son, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lao Bao Commune affirmed: “In the common Front work of the commune, Ms. Thuong is one of the Heads of the Residential Area Front Work Committee with many outstanding achievements, actively and effectively contributing to the deployment and implementation of campaigns and emulation movements. She always plays her role well, always wholeheartedly for the people, supports people through many practical jobs and models, contributing to increasing the income of people in the area”.
