Diem Hang's drawing class project, called Malena's Dream Canvas ( Hanoi ), is where she tells stories with colors and inspires art lovers, especially children.
Born into a family with an artistic tradition, Diem Hang was soon surrounded by color and creativity. Having a chance to work on the small screen, Diem Hang was once known for her role as Trang in "Nhat ky Vang Anh", or most recently in the TV series "Sao Kim ban tim sao hoa" with the role of Yen.

Once one of the talented young faces of Vietnamese television dramas in the early 2000s, Diem Hang brought a natural, pure acting style, but also full of inner emotions. Those roles not only helped her gain the love of the audience, but also nurtured her deep emotional capital, a valuable foundation for when she entered the world of painting.
“After many years of acting, I realized I needed a new journey: quieter and deeper” - Diem Hang shared.
Stemming from her personal passion, she gradually built a studio, then opened a creative space called Malena's Dream Canvas: a project inspired by Art Therapy. Here, students come to study not only with the dream of becoming an artist, but the process of painting is a journey of healing through creativity.
Malena's Dream Canvas offers 12 art lessons for young children, with unique creative methods such as using reflections, making paintings from scrap paper, recycled materials...

During the lessons, the children cut and paste, combine materials, use newspapers, strings, boxes, etc. to create unique works. Some paintings are of countryside scenes from old colored paper, or still lifes are created from used magazine pieces.
Diem Hang has cleverly constructed each lesson as a different material. The lectures are designed in a non-academic direction, but instead empower learners to actively explore materials, images, and their own emotions through sharing sessions about experiences and different skills in fine arts.
Each student is guided and accompanied in a completely different way. Each session is a journey of discovery of color, shape and emotion that brings spiritual balance through art.

In particular, after attending 12 drawing classes and extracurricular activities of attaching recycled paintings using solid waste, children will have an exhibition of their works at a professional art space.
Diem Hang’s “healing drawing” class has a free and friendly spirit. Students come here for many reasons: some have never held a brush, some have given up on their dreams, some simply want to find peace after the upheavals of life. Here, students are considered creative subjects.

“I hope students find a deep connection with themselves. When people truly listen to their inner self, creativity and peace will naturally appear,” she shared.
Besides traditional painting, Diem Hang also pioneered in bringing reflective painting - an art form that applies reflective light - into the children's curriculum.
The teacher of this subject, artist Luu Chuong Duong, shared: "Reflective painting is quite popular in developed countries, applied in many fields such as music festivals, art or fashion shows. I want to bring this subject to children so that they have the opportunity to get acquainted with and practice a very new and highly creative art form."

According to him, the most amazing thing about reflective materials is their ability to "transform" under two types of light. "A painting can be viewed in two ways: with normal light and reflective light. When drawing, students are always curious and eagerly waiting for the moment to turn on the light. And when the light is on, everything seems to explode, students cheer when they see their work light up. That is the most magical moment of each lesson."
In addition, Diem Hang also invited foreign teachers to teach, helping the children learn painting and improve their English. Teacher Gerna said: "Hang and I have collaborated for the past few years, often creating together, so when she invited me to teach in the project, I was very happy to accept. I have been an English teacher for more than 8 years and an artist, so this was a great opportunity to combine those two passions in an art class. I was really happy to see the children enjoying the class and we all had a great time together."

Not stopping at just a classroom, Diem Hang cherishes the idea of turning Malena's Dream Canvas into a mobile painting project, bringing art to schools, communities, and public spaces, where everyone can paint, even if they have never held a brush.
“I want art to be present in everyday life, not just in the studio. When people are touched by art, they will learn to love and heal themselves,” she said.
