In the "Border Guard Station" house, the Border Guard officers and soldiers have shown their love to the children in the border area as if they were their own children. That is the common feeling of everyone about the fathers wearing green uniforms in the program "Helping children go to school - Adopted children of the Border Guard Station" in the border area of Lao Cai with the desire to nurture green dreams in the border area.

Si Ma Cai Border Guard Station always does a good job of mass mobilization and effectively implements the program "Helping children go to school - Border Guard Station's adopted children".
The Si Ma Cai border area is home to a large number of ethnic minorities. The border area is large, and the people's lives still face many difficulties. Implementing the policy of the Border Guard Command, in recent years, the Si Ma Cai Border Guard Station has coordinated with local authorities to screen children in difficult circumstances in the area to adopt, sponsor and partially support their education costs.
The greatest joy of the fathers in green uniforms in Si Ma Cai was when two years ago, the first "sweet fruit" was the case of the adopted son Lu Van Hung, the first Mong person in the border village of Lu Di San to pass the university entrance exam. Hung's joy was also the joy of his old and weak grandmother (Hung's father died early when Hung was only two years old, his mother remarried) and most of all, the joy of the adoptive fathers at Si Ma Cai Border Guard Station after 8 years of raising Hung.
Lu Van Hung and his younger brother Lu Seo Lu lived in the loving arms of their new home - Si Ma Cai Border Guard Station, growing up and not letting down the nurturing and education of the green-uniformed soldiers here. During their years living at the station, the two brothers Hung were taken care of with adequate living conditions, trained physically and lived in a disciplined, scientific military environment. Thanks to the love, guidance and care of the green-uniformed "foster fathers", Hung considered this place as his second family. Originally shy and timid, Hung actively participated in the school's cultural and artistic activities, diligently absorbed each lecture, accumulated knowledge and always achieved good academic results.
Closing the 12-year journey of studying, Lu Van Hung confidently entered the high school graduation exam and passed the university entrance exam. Major Ly Van Vinh, Deputy Political Commissar of Si Ma Cai Border Guard Station, who directly tutored and guided Hung in his exam preparation that year, shared: "The unit did its best to help my son complete the exam, achieve good results and continue to nurture his dream when entering university."
Until now, as a strong student, every time we talk, Lu Van Hung can't help but be moved, sharing: "I am always grateful to Father Vinh and the officers and soldiers at Si Ma Cai Border Guard Station, where my brothers and I have been attached for nearly 10 years...".
Up to now, Si Ma Cai Border Guard Station has supported 7 children in the program "Helping children go to school - Adopted children of the border guard station", of which 2 children are raised directly at the unit and 1 child at home; 8 children in the project "Army officers and soldiers help children go to school". Currently, there are 2 "adopted children of the border guard station" who are studying at university or college (Lu Van Hung is studying in the third year of Thai Nguyen University of Education - Lao Cai branch; Lu Seo Lu is studying in the first year of Lao Cai College) and one child is still being raised at home (grade 3, San Chai Primary School No. 1); 2 children in the program "Helping children go to school - Adopted children of the border guard station" have graduated from high school, currently studying at university (one child is in the third year of Thai Nguyen University of Education - Lao Cai branch; one child is in the first year of Hanoi University of Industry); Two young children are studying in local high school.
In order to successfully complete the task of caring for, raising and supporting ethnic minority children in the border area, Si Ma Cai Border Guard Station has mobilized officers and soldiers in the unit, along with organizations and individuals, to support and contribute part of the funding to help the children in their studies. In particular, for the children who are "adopted children of the Border Guard Station", the unit has adopted 2 children to raise, feed, stay and live at the unit. Currently, both children have graduated from high school and are studying at university and college. In 2025, the unit gave gifts and a savings book of 40 million VND to Lu Seo Lu, so that he can continue studying at Lao Cai College.

Officers of Si Ma Cai Border Guard Station give support to "adopted children of the Border Guard Station" - a great source of encouragement for students who are children of ethnic minorities to continue their dreams.
In addition, Si Ma Cai Border Guard Station also coordinated with charitable organizations to build and hand over a "Warm House of Love" house to two students who are adopted children of the unit in Lu Di San village, San Chai commune, with a total cost of 150 million VND; organized the inauguration and handover of the "Warm Border House" house to the family of Ms. Trang Thi Chua, residing in Sin Ho San village, San Chai commune, with a total cost of 200 million VND.
Implementing the program "Helping children go to school - Adopted children of border guards", every month, Si Ma Cai Border Guard Station supports each child with 500 thousand VND; makes full and timely payments to children who enjoy policies under the project "Army officers and soldiers help children go to school". On the occasion of Lunar New Year every year, Si Ma Cai Border Guard Station organizes to welcome children and their families to the unit to celebrate Tet with officers and soldiers; at the same time, gives gifts to encourage and boost the children's spirit.
Not only Si Ma Cai Border Guard Station, but also other Border Guard stations along the Lao Cai border have successfully implemented the program "Helping children go to school - Adopted children of border guards". Border Guard stations stationed along the border areas of the former districts such as Si Ma Cai, Muong Khuong, Bat Xat have adopted 23 children; each child is supported with 3 million VND per month; the program "Helping children go to school - Adopted children of border guards" supports 57 children, each child is supported with 500 thousand VND per month until they finish grade 12...
