The My Thuy intersection project (Ho Chi Minh City), a key infrastructure project at the eastern gateway, has had its completion date adjusted to the third quarter of 2026 instead of the end of 2025. This is the second time the city's first four-level interchange project has been delayed since its commencement due to prolonged obstacles in land clearance and investment capital adjustments.

Strategic role in the transportation infrastructure of the Eastern region.
The My Thuy interchange is located at the intersection of major arterial roads including Nguyen Thi Dinh, Dong Van Cong, and Vo Chi Cong (Ring Road 2). It serves as the main gateway to Cat Lai Port – the country's largest container port. The project plays a crucial role in separating container trucks from private vehicles, aiming to alleviate the severe traffic congestion that has persisted for many years.

According to reports, the construction delays have kept this area a traffic "hot spot." The excessively high density of heavy trucks not only causes traffic jams but also poses a risk of accidents, directly affecting the cargo handling capacity of the entire eastern port area of the city.
Adjustment of total investment due to land acquisition issues.
The project received approval in principle in 2016 with an initial total investment of VND 1,998 billion, and was expected to be completed in 2021. However, the cost of compensation and land clearance skyrocketed from an estimated VND 504 billion to approximately VND 1,624 billion, causing the project to stall. As a result, the total investment capital for the project has been adjusted upwards to VND 3,622 billion.

The total land area to be acquired for the project is approximately 166,277 m², affecting 195 households in the area. After the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee approved a new completion date of 2026, the Department of Construction and the Transport Board were requested to strengthen supervision and closely manage costs and quality of the project, avoiding further waste due to the extended construction time.

Technical scale and key items
In terms of infrastructure architecture, the project is designed to create a four-tiered complex transportation system including: underpasses, ground level, overpasses, and connecting ramps. The specific scale includes:
- Overpass on Vo Chi Cong road: Accommodates 8 lanes of automobile traffic.
- The overpass for the left turn from Cat Lai towards Phu My Bridge: Designed to accommodate 2 lanes of automobile traffic.
- The underpass for the left turn from Vo Chi Cong Street towards Cat Lai: Designed to accommodate 2 lanes of automobile traffic.
- Ky Ha 3 Bridge: Designed to accommodate 8 lanes of automobile traffic.
- Ky Ha Bridge 4: From Vo Chi Cong Street, turn right towards Cat Lai, accommodating 3 lanes of traffic.

To date, several items in phases 1 and 2 have been completed and put into operation, such as Ky Ha 3 Bridge, My Thuy 3 Bridge, and the left-turn underpass from Ring Road 2 to the port. Currently, construction units are focusing on implementing items in phase 3, including the overpass on Vo Chi Cong Street and the right branch of Ky Ha 3 Bridge, to ensure the goal of opening the entire intersection to traffic by the third quarter of 2026.
