Mr. Nguyen Van Giau was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun for his contributions to promoting Vietnam - Japan relations.

On the evening of October 31, at the Japanese Embassy in Hanoi, on behalf of the Japanese Government, Ambassador ITO Naoki awarded the Order of the Rising Sun with gold and silver stars to Mr. Nguyen Van Giau - former Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, former Chairman of the Economic Committee and the Foreign Affairs Committee.

This prestigious award recognizes his outstanding contributions to promoting parliamentary, economic and diplomatic cooperation between the two countries.

Attending the ceremony were: Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the National Assembly Party Committee Vu Hai Ha; Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Nguyen Ngoc Canh; along with representatives of the Party Committee, Office, International Cooperation Department of the State Bank and a number of relevant agencies.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador ITO Naoki expressed his honor to represent the Japanese Government in presenting the noble award to Mr. Nguyen Van Giau - who has made many important contributions to strengthening and developing the comprehensive cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Japan.

In his response, Mr. Nguyen Van Giau expressed his deep gratitude to the Japanese Government and thanked the Party and State of Vietnam for creating conditions for him to receive this prestigious award.

He shared that during more than two decades working in the finance and banking sector and later in the National Assembly, he had many profound memories with Japanese partners.

“This award is not only a personal honor, but also a recognition of the collective efforts and a symbol of the Vietnam-Japan friendship,” he said. At the same time, former Governor Nguyen Van Giau congratulated Japan on electing its first female Prime Minister in history, and expressed his belief that the Land of the Rising Sun will continue to develop strongly, making positive contributions to global peace and prosperity.
