The Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation and the old Binh Duong Football Federation have coexisted for 25 years, but after Binh Duong and Ba Ria Vung Tau merged into Ho Chi Minh City from July 1, 2025, the scope of HFF's operations was expanded, taking on more responsibilities for developing local football.



The 1st Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation (Term 2025 - 2030) took place on the morning of November 29.
Marking a turning point after the organizational merger process according to the policy of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and the Department of Home Affairs, and opening a new development stage for football in the City named after Uncle Ho, the 1st Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation (Term 2025 - 2030) took place on the morning of November 29.
At the Congress, the Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation, Term 1, was also elected. With 100% consensus from the delegates attending, Mr. Tran Anh Tu was re-elected as President of the Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation (HFF). Messrs. Ho Hong Thach, Vu Duc Thanh and Ngo Van Lui held the positions of Vice Presidents of the HFF.

Mr. Tran Anh Tu said: "The goals and strategic orientations for developing Ho Chi Minh City football in the period 2025 - 2030, with key tasks: Building HFF into a strong and modern Football Federation; Synchronously developing grassroots, school, elite and professional football; Maintaining the position of the center of futsal and women's football in Vietnam; Strengthening financial autonomy and international integration; Establishing a joint stock company under HFF to manage and maintain the stability of the Ho Chi Minh City women's football team in accordance with the regulations of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC); Professionalizing the organization of tournaments, training of referees and young players; Applying technology in football management, statistics and communication....".

Currently, Ho Chi Minh City has two football teams participating in the V-League, namely Ho Chi Minh City Police Club and Becamex Ho Chi Minh City. In addition, the cooperation project with Olympique Lyon Club (France) has also brought many positive signals when contributing 22 players to the national youth teams, and at the same time achieving impressive results in the domestic arena such as the Silver Medal of the 2022 National U17, Bronze Medal of the 2022 Sports Festival and Bronze Medal of the 2025 National U21.

Speaking at the Congress, Mr. Nguyen Nam Nhan - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City - emphasized: "HFF is recognized as a bright spot with many effective, in-depth and systematic activities. From grassroots football, youth football to futsal and women's football, HFF has shown its leading role and created a solid foundation for the development of Ho Chi Minh City football. These achievements will be an important launching pad for HFF to enter its first term (2025-2030) with many new expectations. In particular, Ho Chi Minh City women's football must continue to be the spearhead of Ho Chi Minh City football, continuing to maintain its No. 1 position in Vietnam."
