Reuters reported that former US President Donald Trump posted an article on the social network Truth Social on March 18, admitting that he could be arrested by Manhattan district prosecutors in New York next Tuesday.
According to the former US President, leaked documents from the Manhattan District Attorney's office show that his arrest will be carried out on March 21. However, Mr. Trump did not state the charges that could lead to his arrest. The former President called on his supporters to protest against prosecutors in New York.
"Protest, take back our country," Trump wrote.
The Manhattan District Attorney's Office has not yet commented on the information.
According to some sources, Mr. Trump's arrest, if it happens, could be related to his payment to silence porn star Stormy Daniels.
The former president has been subpoenaed to appear before a grand jury in Manhattan to testify against him, a move that could see him indicted.
Stormy Daniels, born Stephanie Clifford, claims to have had sex with Mr Trump in Nevada in 2006, when Mr Trump was married to Melania.
The former president denies the allegations, but in 2016, Mr Trump's longtime lawyer, Michael Cohen, paid Daniels $130,000 to "buy her silence".
Mr Cohen later pleaded guilty to federal campaign finance violations related to the hush money, saying he was only working “at the direction” of Mr Trump.
