Mr. Vu Dai Thang was elected Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee.

On November 28, the Hanoi People's Council dismissed Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung from the position of Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee due to health reasons and personal wishes. Subsequently, the Hanoi People's Council elected Mr. Vu Dai Thang, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, to hold the position of Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee for the 16th term, 2021-2026.

Previously, the Hanoi Party Committee held a conference to announce the Politburo 's decision on personnel work.   Mr. Vu Dai Thang, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Quang Ninh Province   The Politburo decided to stop participating in the Party Executive Committee, the Provincial Party Standing Committee, and stop holding the position of Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term; was transferred and appointed to participate in the Party Executive Committee, the City Party Standing Committee, and hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term.
