Mr. Vu Dai Thang holds the position of Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee

On the afternoon of November 28, the Hanoi People's Council elected Vu Dai Thang, Deputy Secretary of the 18th Hanoi Party Committee, to hold the position of Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term.

The 28th session of the Hanoi People's Council, term XVI, 2021 - 2026, reviewed and decided on a number of issues under its authority. At the session, the Hanoi People's Council elected Mr. Vu Dai Thang, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, term XVIII, to hold the position of Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, term XVI, 2021 - 2026.

Also at the meeting, the Hanoi People's Council delegates dismissed Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung from the position of Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee for the 16th term, 2021-2026.

Mr. Vu Dai Thang received the decision to become Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee.

Earlier, on the same afternoon, the Hanoi Party Committee held a conference to announce the Politburo 's decision on personnel work. According to the decision, the Politburo assigned and appointed Mr. Vu Dai Thang, Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee, to join the Executive Committee and Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee, holding the position of Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee.

The current leadership of the Hanoi People's Committee includes Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Duc Thang and 5 Vice Chairmen of the City People's Committee, including: Mr. Duong Duc Tuan, Mr. Nguyen Manh Quyen, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Luu, Ms. Vu Thu Ha and Mr. Truong Viet Dung.

Mr. Vu Dai Thang, 50 years old, from Hanoi, has a master's degree in International Relations (Waseda University, Japan), a bachelor's degree in Foreign Economics and a bachelor's degree in Law. He is an alternate member of the 12th Party Central Committee and a member of the 13th Party Central Committee.

The new Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee previously held the position of Head of the Department of Economic Zone Management, Ministry of Planning and Investment; Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Nam province in the period 2010-2015. In March 2018, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment.

From August 2020 to October 2024, Mr. Vu Dai Thang held the position of Secretary of the Quang Binh Provincial Party Committee and was re-elected for a new term. In October 2024, the Politburo assigned and appointed him as Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.
