The Hanoi People's Council elected Mr. Vu Dai Thang, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, to hold the position of Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee for the 16th term, 2021-2026.

According to the decision of the Politburo, Mr. Vu Dai Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee, ceased to participate in the Party Executive Committee, the Provincial Party Standing Committee, ceased to hold the position of Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term; was transferred and appointed to participate in the Party Executive Committee, the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, and hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term.
Mr. Vu Dai Thang was born in 1975, hometown: Hanoi city; professional qualifications: Master of International Relations, Bachelor of Economics, Bachelor of Law; Political theory level: Advanced.
During his working career, Mr. Vu Dai Thang worked for many years at the Ministry of Planning and Investment, holding the position of Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment. From August 2020 to October 2024, Mr. Vu Dai Thang was Secretary of the Quang Binh Provincial Party Committee. On October 26, 2024, Mr. Vu Dai Thang was mobilized and assigned by the Politburo to participate in the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee and hold the position of Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee, term XV, 2020-2025.
On September 26, at the 1st Conference of the Executive Committee of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee, term XVI, 2025-2030, Mr. Vu Dai Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, term XV, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Quang Ninh Province, was elected to continue to hold the position of Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee, term XVI, 2025-2030.
