AP reported that President Zelensky on December 8 went to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer's residence at 10 Downing Street, London, to hold talks with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in the context of Kiev's European allies describing this as a "decisive moment" in the US-led effort to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

The leaders of Britain, France and Germany took a more supportive stance towards Kiev in comments ahead of a meeting that lasted about two hours on December 8. The British prime minister said the peace push was at a “crucial stage” and stressed the need for “a fair and lasting ceasefire”.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Merz said he was "sceptical" about some details in the documents released by the US. "We have to discuss this issue. That is why we are here. The coming days... could be a decisive moment for all of us," he said.
European leaders are working to ensure that any ceasefire must be backed by firm security commitments from both Europe and the United States to prevent Russia from attacking again, AP reported.
Earlier, on the evening of December 7, Mr. Zelensky said his talks with European leaders this week in London (UK) and Brussels (Belgium) would focus on security, air defense and long-term funding for Ukraine's fighting effort. He stressed that Ukraine needs support from both Europe and the United States.
After the meeting in London, French President Macron's office said the talks allowed the leaders to "continue discussing the US peace plan with a view to complementing it with European contributions, in close coordination with Ukraine".
