From October 23 to 24, at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chair of the BRICS Group of the World's Leading Emerging Economies (BRICS) in 2024, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh led a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to attend the BRICS Leaders' Meeting in Kazan, Russia. On this occasion, Mr. Grigory Trofimchuk, an expert on foreign policy, defense and security, Chairman of the Expert Council of the Eurasian Ideas Scientific Research Support Fund, shared with Nhan Dan Newspaper's correspondent in Russia about Vietnam's participation. According to the Russian expert, Vietnam is not a member of BRICS. Vietnam's participation in the BRICS Leaders' Meeting shows the interest of Vietnam as well as Asian countries in BRICS cooperation, especially reflecting the spirit of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation. Vietnam not only has the opportunity to expand relations with countries and friends, but also establish sustainable business relationships with international partners. Asian countries, including Vietnam, are actively following global trends, actively operating in various fields, contributing to strengthening stability and development. Russian experts affirmed that with its experience in international cooperation, Vietnam will have the opportunity to share with other countries the operational experience of regional organizations such as ASEAN, the East Asia Summit, etc. According to expert Grigory Trofimchuk, the principle of multipolarity is the foundation of BRICS, which is the balance and maintenance of stability in the economic, financial and banking sectors. BRICS discussed a new form of cooperation in the field of payments, taking into account the sovereignty and independence of the participating parties, excluding all forms of pressure and potential threats. In 2025, the Russian Federation and Vietnam will celebrate many important events, the highlight of which is the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. The two sides are actively preparing activities with the expectation that bilateral relations will develop increasingly deeply, comprehensively and practically.
