Arsenal draw with bottom-placed team, risk being overtaken by Man City.

"It's very hard to accept," manager Mikel Arteta expressed his deep disappointment after Arsenal were held to a 2-2 draw by bottom-of-the-table Wolves, despite having led by two goals earlier in the match at Molineux Stadium on the morning of February 19th (Vietnam time).

Buyako Saka opened the scoring for Arsenal after just five minutes, and the lead was extended when Piero Hincapie doubled the advantage in the 56th minute. But Wolves responded just five minutes later with a goal from Hugo Bueno, creating a tense second half for the visitors.

The home team continued to attack, and their persistence paid off in the 90+4th minute of added time when young player Tom Edozie's shot forced Ricardo Calafiori into an own goal, securing a 2-2 draw.

Speaking after the match, manager Mikel Arteta was furious and said his team had not performed well.

"In the second half, we didn't perform to our full potential and failed to show the form needed to win a Premier League match."

It's best not to judge; we're all very disappointed about this. Arsenal have to accept it because we deserve it. When emotions get the better of you, it's easy to say things that can hurt the team. Everyone wants to give their all.

You have to go through difficult periods. Today, at the last minute, we paid the price. We have to do the basics much better than we did," coach Arteta stated.

The 43-year-old manager also explained why Arsenal didn't make the most of their advantage when dominating the game: "Today we need to accept that. We need to be self-critical because we didn't create enough chances."

The reality is that Arsenal haven't been consistent in the league for the last few months. We have to work harder. When things get tough, we have to show how much we want to win and how good we are. We have to bounce back."

In a post-match interview, striker Buyako Saka also harshly criticized his team. He shared with the Match of the Day program: “Disappointed. There’s nothing more to say. There was a huge difference between our performance in the first and second halves.”

Arsenal have lowered their standards and are paying the price for it. It's time to focus on ourselves, raise our standards and improve our performance; that's within our control.”

If Man City beat Newcastle on February 22nd, they could close the gap to Arsenal at the top of the table to just two points, before the Gunners play their crucial North London derby against Tottenham on the same day.
