Vaccination is one of the most effective disease prevention measures, contributing to protecting public health and minimizing the risk of spreading dangerous infectious diseases. In Vietnam, the Expanded Immunization Program was implemented in 1981 and officially applied nationwide in 1985.

Thanks to this, many dangerous infectious diseases such as polio were eradicated (in 2000) and neonatal tetanus was eliminated (in 2005). To date, the program provides free 12 vaccines to prevent 11 common infectious diseases for children and pregnant women.

Mr. Vu Manh Cuong, Director of the Central Center for Communication and Health Education , Ministry of Health - Head of the Organizing Committee of the contest, said that currently, the trend of anti-vaccine, living in harmony with nature, refusing to let their children get vaccinated in the expanded immunization program is returning. This will create risks affecting their children and not ensure immunity for the community. Raising awareness for people to grasp general knowledge about vaccination is very important.

In order to raise public awareness of the importance of vaccination, and encourage the community to access official information and actively participate in disease prevention and control, the Central Center for Health Communication and Education in collaboration with the Department of Disease Prevention and the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology organized an "Online quiz to learn about the Expanded Immunization Program in Vietnam".

Therefore, launching this contest is valuable in increasing the rate of people supporting vaccination to increase the vaccination rate.

"Recently, we have implemented the Rota vaccine very effectively and have received support from many mothers. Instead of previously having many mothers take their children to get the 5-in-1 vaccine through the service, now they have taken their children to get the 5-in-1 vaccine through the Expanded Immunization Program, so the rate of this vaccine in the program has been increased. We hope that mothers will trust and feel secure in having their children vaccinated according to the program," Ms. Hong Mai shared.
