Buddhism promotes patriotism and strengthens national unity.

On the morning of February 7th, at Truc Lam Phuong Nam Zen Monastery, the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Can Tho City held a conference to announce the decision and present the decrees for the conferment of ecclesiastical titles in 2025.

At the conference, the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of the city announced and presented the ordination certificates of the Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Association to 40 monks and nuns; including 6 who were ordained as Venerable Monks, 12 who were ordained as Senior Monks, 5 who were ordained as Senior Nuns, and 17 who were ordained as Nuns.

Speaking to congratulate the monks and nuns who received the ordination certificates, Mr. Nguyen Van Khoi, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, emphasized: with the motto "Buddhism - Nation - Socialism," in addition to annual religious activities and ceremonies, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha always pays attention to and focuses on monastic affairs, including the ordination of clergy to honor the virtues and the learning process of venerable monks and nuns.

The conferment of ordination certificates is a crucial Buddhist event, demonstrating the Central Committee of the Buddhist Association's concern for monastic affairs. It also affirms the role and responsibility of monks and nuns, and recognizes and commends their contributions to serving the Dharma and the nation. The newly ordained monks and nuns serve as shining examples, guiding the younger generation of monks and nuns to steadfastly follow the path of study and practice.

The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee expressed his hope that in the coming time, the monks and nuns will continue to uphold the spirit of patriotism, protect the nation and ensure the well-being of the people, actively mobilize and propagate to monks, nuns, lay Buddhists, and followers to effectively implement the Party's guidelines and policies, strictly abide by the State's laws, promote the harmonious spirit of Buddhism, strengthen the great national unity and religious unity, always be at the forefront of patriotic emulation movements, and contribute to the successful implementation of economic , cultural, and social development tasks in 2026.

Representing the newly ordained monks and nuns, Venerable Thich Phuoc Thanh, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Can Tho City, expressed gratitude to the Elders of the Council of Elders, the Executive Council, the Venerable leaders of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Can Tho City, and the city leaders. He stated that the city always pays attention to, supports, and creates favorable conditions for monks and nuns to carry out their Buddhist activities and complete their work, contributing to building a cultured and civilized life, spreading humanistic values, consolidating national unity, and building Can Tho City into a sustainably developing center worthy of being the driving force of the Mekong Delta region.

Venerable Thich Phuoc Thanh emphasized that receiving the ordination to the monastic rank is not only an honor but also a sacred responsibility for each individual and for the cause of propagating the Dharma. The monks and nuns will dedicate all their hearts and minds to cultivating their spiritual practice, diligently studying, practicing the Dharma correctly, uniting in harmony, serving the Sangha, and contributing to building a more dignified and strong Buddhist community in Can Tho city within the nation.

Can Tho City currently has 445 monastic establishments and 32 concentrated religious activity points belonging to the Vietnam Buddhist Association of the city, with over 3,000 monks and nuns. In recent times, the Vietnam Buddhist Association of the city has organized monastic activities, Dharma propagation, rituals, and Buddhist education in accordance with the law and the Association's Charter. The monastic establishments have mobilized Buddhists to support social charity work with a total budget of over 104 billion VND; they regularly coordinate and participate in activities organized by the Fatherland Front, other organizations, and other religions, contributing to strengthening national and religious unity in the area.
