To welcome the Year of the Horse 2026, the Ministry of Science and Technology, in collaboration with the Vietnam Post Corporation, is issuing a special set of stamps titled "Year of the Horse" and a collectible coin titled "Sun Horse Soaring Through the Clouds". These two cultural products, rich in aesthetic value and bearing the imprint of contemporary folk art, convey the message of "Success on the first try" and the spirit of "A bright journey of ten thousand miles," aiming for a new year of peace, prosperity, and breakthroughs.

The "Year of the Horse" stamp set, consisting of two stamps and one stamp block, designed by artist Nguyen Quang Vinh, conveys the message "May success come quickly," a familiar yet profound wish, expressing belief in a new journey that is prosperous, enduring, and successful.

In Eastern culture, the horse is a sacred animal symbolizing strength, loyalty, patience, and good fortune. Inspired by this, the stamp set is presented in a contemporary folk style, marking the first time the legendary "Nine-Maned Horse" has been featured on Vietnamese Lunar New Year stamps.

The two stamp designs depict a pair of horses, one white and one chestnut, carrying a drum set for a spring festival. The white horse, with its graceful appearance and long mane, carrying a small drum set, embodies the feminine principle (yin); the chestnut horse, with its strong and sturdy build, carrying a large drum, symbolizes the masculine principle (yang). The two images combine to create a harmonious balance of yin and yang, representing equilibrium, harmony, and a good beginning. The horses bowing to each other also evoke a spirit of humility and affection, spreading a warm and loving family atmosphere during the first days of the year.

The stamp block design further expands the story with an image of eight galloping horses, prominently featuring a "Thousand-Mile Horse" adorned with phoenix wings at its center. The image of one horse turning back to encourage its companions behind it conveys a message of companionship and progress, emphasizing the meaning of "success upon arrival"—not just a destination, but a journey of sharing and perseverance.

Inspired by the image of the Sun Horse soaring through the clouds, the coin conveys the spirit of leadership, breakthrough, and illuminating light, associated with the message "A journey of boundless light."
