Authorities inspect a sportswear business on Hoang Cong Chat Street, Phu Dien Ward, Hanoi.
On the evening of December 8, the inspection team of the Market Management Department (QLTT), the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) coordinated with the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention (PA05), Hanoi City Police to conduct a surprise inspection of the facility owned by Mr. Duong Tan Rine. At the time of the inspection, Ms. Nguyen Thi Dieu Tuyet was the representative under the power of attorney.
The establishment was determined to be operating as a business household but could not present the required registration certificate. The store representative said the point of sale had been in operation since mid-2025 but had not yet completed the business registration procedures. The inspection team determined that the behavior showed signs of violating Article 7 of the 2005 Commercial Law and Decree 168/2025/ND-CP on business registration.
Checking the goods, the authorities recorded: 5,200 sets of sportswear bearing the Nike brand, 1,200 sets bearing the Adidas brand, 14 sports shirts bearing the Puma brand. Most of these goods were traded on e-commerce platforms. However, the representative of the facility could not present invoices or documents proving their origin. The details of printing, embroidery, packaging... showed many signs of not conforming to the specifications of genuine goods. The inspection team initially determined that the goods had signs of counterfeiting trademarks according to the Law on Intellectual Property. In addition, the facility also did not list prices according to the provisions of the Law on Prices 2023.
Mr. Tran Viet Hung, Head of the Market Management Department, said that the inspection was carried out to effectively implement Resolution 397/NQ-CP dated December 5, 2025 of the Prime Minister on combating, preventing and repelling smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and infringement of intellectual property rights by 2030.
"The discovery of thousands of clothes suspected of counterfeiting major brands at a small retail business location shows that the subjects have taken advantage of the household business model to operate outside of control. This is a sign that the concealment of counterfeit goods businesses is increasingly sophisticated," Mr. Hung commented. The case is being further verified and clarified by the authorities to be handled according to the provisions of the law.
